Zebra belong to a family of horse (Equidae). They are single-hoofed animals that reside mostly in Africa. Zebras are closely related to horses and donkeys, as a matter of fact, they are in the same genus. The most known feature of zebras is the bold patterns on their coats.
Zebra have white stripes which is next to black or brown stripes, the stripes most end at their bellies and the inner side of the legs, which are white. However, their have black skin under their coats. Zebra's feet are capped with a singular hard hoof, which help to pack a punch when kicked at predators. Zebra also have large, rounded ears with lots of hair that help to keep dust out of them. Their tail has long, black hair that begins midway down the tail, while the top is striped.

Zebra are of different species, and the largest zebra is the Grevy's zebra. The Grevy's zebra weighs 350 to 450 kilograms and is around 5 feet tall from shoulder to hoof. Grevy's zebra's thick bodies make them look like mules with stripes, and Mountain zebras weigh 240 to 372 kg and 3.8 to 4.9 feet, while
Plains zebras are 3.6 to 4.8 feet at the shoulder and weigh up to 350 kg.

Although almost all the zebras live in Africa, each species has its own home area. Plains zebras reside in the treeless, grasslands, and woodlands of southern Africa. The Grevy's zebra reside in the arid grasslands of Ethiopia and Kenya. While the mountain zebra is found in South Africa and Angola.

Zebras feed mostly on grasses, and they can travel up to 2,900 kilometers in search of food. Some zebras feed also on leaves and twigs.

zebras carry their younger once for a gestation period of 12 to 14 months. zebras offspring are called foals. When they are born, they can weigh around 25 to 40 kg. Soon after birth, foals are able to stand up and walk. Just like human, foals gets its nutrition from its mother's milk and will continue to nurse throughout its first year. And zebra become fully mature after 3 to 6 years old and will have a lifespan of around 25 years.
