Water for life.png

Hello fellow Steemians! Hope we are all doing well wherever we are, it’s always a pleasure to participate and publish in Steemkids. Much appreciation to @madilyn02 for giving us the opportunity to this contest and also publish once again in Steemkids. I am much delighted in getting the opportunity to also share my photographs and thought of this week’s theme, water for life. Indeed water is life, we have come a long way to realize the topmost important of water in our daily activities as humans, and I would be much happy to also touch a little about the some of the sources of water in my locality and how it’s used by the community people.

SOME SOURCES OF WATER IN MY AREA AND ITS USES.

Rainfall.

Of course, rain is the first source of water I would be talking about. I consider rain as the most important source of water to my community, and I hope same can be said about you too. It happened to rain today in my community and I captured some of the moment in other to share with you. We need the rain for most reasons, one important reason I can say is to provide water for our plants and food crops that we cultivate. Without rain, food crops do not grow so well and sometimes die off, though artificial irrigation is used by some people to provide water for their crops, but it is never efficient as the rain is. We also collect rain water for external use in our homes such as using it in laundry and also wash our cars or motor bikes.

The Artificial Dam.

IMG_20221015_153737_1.jpg
We have a dam in our area which serves as a reserve during the dry season when rain stops falling for some period of time. The dam was built by the community members in even before I was born, in other for it to collect water during rainy season. We mostly use it for laundry and construction purposes and also a source of irrigation to our crops. But it needs to be processed for it to be used in laundry, so a chemical called alum is used in the process for it to coagulate the dust particles in it and settle it down.

Artificial Well.

We also have a well built in the community that produces underground water from them, and this too is used for external activities such as used in construction and for irrigation. And it’s mostly used in the dry season too.

These are the natural source of water that I want to share to you in my community, hope you enjoyed it and I would be happy if you could ask any questions you might have about the sources and also share your views on how we can improve it. Thank you very much for going through and the opportunity by Steemkids and @madilyn02 to share this to you all.

I invite @luwawdeen, @mukka and @kataali to join this contest as well.
