Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC) WK14:#1: Neglect in families, effects on kids

Every parent has responsibilities to carry out in their family and raising and training a child is one of the most important obligations of a parent, they are responsible for making sure their kid grows up in the right path. Many parents neglect their responsibilities and that makes this kids move in the wrong direction and is the purpose of this engagement, it is now left for us to give our views concerning parents that neglects their responsibilities and the adverse effects it has on their kids.

Everybody in the family has different responsibilities which depends on the role you play in the family.

Breaking all these terms down to make the questions easy to explain and also understand.

• Neglect: This is actually an act which results from inadequate attention to something, or it can also mean giving no care to something or someone and having less concern over something.
• Responsibilities: These are duties or obligations which a person is subjected to, they are held accountable for that work. These means that they are responsible for any damage caused.

From these quick definitions we will be able to define what neglect of responsibilities means in a family.

Neglect of responsibilities in a family means that the duties and obligations which was subjected to a family member isn't carried out and it's neglected. Everyone has responsibilities in the family and failure to take up this responsibilities will result to damages, lack of trust and many other negative values in the family. To avoid these, family members are to take up their responsibilities to make sure every member of the family achieve their goals in life.

I would love to list some of the Responsibilities of the family here, to bring more knowledge on the duties we are to carry on to make sure we have a happy family.

The father plays a role in making sure that the family attains a greater height, from our primary schools we were taught on the duties and obligations of athe father in the family, and here I'll list some

• He is the bread winner of the family(he provides for the family)
• He protects the family
• He disciplines the children, helping them have respect and discipline.
• He is a mentor

• She is the housekeeper
• She is the manager of the house
• She takes good care of the kids
• she cooks for the family

• They run errands
• showing love to parents too
• Keeping the house neat and tidy
• Obeying and listening to parents

These are just some of the Responsibilities which any member of the family shouldn't neglect.

Neglected responsibilities has a huge impact and effect on a kids life, that's why that area is really taken into consideration by the government, the humanitarian affairs have always been on guard to any form of maltreatment on kid/ humans as a whole.

I have not been neglected before, and I wouldn't love to suffer this, but I have seen lot of kids being neglected, their parents don't just care about them, but sometimes you can't blame them because they don't even have food to put on the table, so trying to instill discipline on a child to always stay back home and not roam will be a problem to them. Some of this parents don't just care about the well being of a their child, they look after their own life.

Majorly, this happens in the life's of kids serving as househelps, and there has been major reports concerning it, people's kids are maltreated and starved as punishments which shouldn't be so, and the parents are so relaxed thinking their kids are doing well. These people go to villages to pick kids, then promise Thier parents that they will enroll them in school and also take care of their well-being, with these words, the parents are so relaxed and they give their child to follow them to the city, not knowing that that journey is a deadly one. These kids suffer, selling from morning till evening and then resuming house chores, no time to even take care of their selfs.

I have seen a kid being neglected, just closed to our environment, I think they also promised their parents these, because they took her from the village too. The kid was maltreated several times, she was just 13 years old, hef "madame", as it's fondly called, didn't let her have peace of mind. Till one day after the beatings, she ran away from the house and left far, she didn't return home that night, and the madame now touched moved everywhere looking for her, she come to our house asking of her, after several reports they kid was found, but the villagers interrogated the kid and reported the issues to the village head, she told them about the maltreatment, this so touched the people that they gave the woman two options, either she returns the kid to her home, or they report her to humanitarian affairs, which mean several years in prison.

This woman had responsibilities to carry out as she promised to the parents but she neglected them which had effects. All these acts can lead to rape, kidnapping and death of a kid, so it should be taken into consideration.

This neglects has so many effect on a kids life, it leads to:

• Being a witness of domestic violence: This is a major concern as it will affect the kid greatly till he grows.
• Lack of self-care: These kids can't even take good care of their selfs again, they don't even have money to buy good clothes, because they did depend on parents and parents did neglect their responsibilities.

Parents who neglect their responsibilities can amend their ways and get back to having a loving moment with Thier kids again.

• Create bonding moments and have time for their kids, talking to them and also showing them the love they need
• Providing basic needs will help improve the relationship between families, as kids love it when they receive gifts from their parents.
• Showing protection to your child too will help improve family love and unity

Kids also have an important role to play, inorder not to be neglected. So I will love to advice the kids to respect their family member and do their responsibilities to avoid any form of neglects.
