Group and Group behavior

Greetings everyone, I hope you all are doing fine, I came across this lesson and questions on group and group behavior, due to how it affects our society both positively and negatively, so I decided to share my thoughts on this.

What is a group

A group is a unit or structure having a particular interest or vision aiming for a particular goal, there are many groups formed for many purposes or reasons and these groups can be used for political purposes, in educational sytems, a small example in the educational system is in school when it was time for our holiday projects we were divided into groups and given a certain topic to work on i.e each members in a group has the same topic, while a members of another group has a different topic, and that explains a group very well, in politics support groups can be formed and form their support movement group name and support the candidate they all choose to support, for a group to be formed it has vision and mission, a group cat just be created for no purpose.

we have seen what a group means and we know what behavior is, it is simply a way of acting, behaving or controlling, then coining these two words we say group behavior is a way or situation which a group behaves in a similar way

Types of group behavior

Here I have the types of group behaviors

Positive group behavior

this is a kind of group behavior which brings in positive results, it doesn't cause harm it is all positive, they all have a good view and all working towards bringing good results and achievement, all working together.

Negative group behavior

This type of behavior doesn't bring in a positive result, it brings in bad results as it might lead to death, destruction of properties and so, as we can see it is not a good kind of group behavior and the group are aiming for something negative, they are sometimes paid to do this.

Characteristics of Group behavior

• Mass action

This is when large/mass number of the group or the whole group moves for action, I.e it can be positive or negative looking at the positive term, in during campaigns you will see a political group coming out in Mass to make their campaign and so on

• Rioting

In Nigeria during the protest session we saw other groups that their aim was not to join in the protest but to cause riots.

• Burning and destruction of public and private properties

The covid-19 pandemic lockdown was a clear example and we saw how people's properties was destroyed and government vehicles was ignited to ashes, and looting was also taking place

• killing

Groups of hoodlums and unknown gunmen have their goal, as they just want to kill and cause violence, as such groups are negative groups I the society

• violence

Violence is also a big part of this, they plan to cause violence in the country, they don't want to see peace.
