I will be answering the questions given to us by the teacher

1 Define citizen in your own way
2 explain who a foreigner is?
3 state 5 essential qualities of a citizen
4 state the merits and demerits of having foreigners in our midst
5 in not less than 50 words state why people naturalize.

who is a citizen

A citizen is an inhabitant or native of a place or a country, he is a legal or natural member of that place. A citizen is a member of a Nation by birth, nationality of his/her parents (one or both), or by naturalization which will be granted rights and obligation as a member. A citizen can perform and enjoy the benefits of his/her place.
• a citizen can run for an election whilst a foreigner can’t , so a citizen is a legal member of a place which has the right of franchise.

who is a foreigner

A foreigner is just an opposite of a citizen, a foreigner is a person which comes to anothery certainly not his own for some purposes like job, school, sports, tourism etc. He is limited to do things in that country as he is not a legal member, so he can’t be called to the country’s name , example ; I am a citizen of Nigeria, so I am called a Nigerian, the foreigner won’t be called a Nigerian , if he is from Poland he will be known as a Polish which is not the same .

Essential qualities of a citizen

1 A citizen has full political right, which means a citizen can vote and also be voted for and can also hold any public office.
2 a citizen of a country is truthful, respectful, brings in justice and equality for oneself and others
3 a good citizen obeys the rules and laws of the country
4 he must respect the rights of others
5 he must be honest / trustworthy.

Merits of having foreigners in our midst

In my country Nigeria,having a foreigner has really helped a lot
1 it brought to us a better knowledge of God, as the missionaries which were foreigners, taught us more about God.
2 it increased development; foreigners which have wide knowledge of how factories,machineries, refineries are being ran and built, have taught and shown us citizens how it is done and it has helped us a lot
3 it has created more job opportunities, as they brought in factories and companies

Demerits

1. they seem to be more respected than indigenes in some areas as they can be given work position , whereas an indigene that has the required documents and certification is not granted the work.
2. some are more interested in the money and oil, and not the lifelyhood of people living there as oil spillages are being found in refining areas
3. the launder money form the country , as poverty in the country is not their business since it’s not their country .

Why people naturalize

People natural due to many purposes as they want to enjoy full rights as a citizen there, if there are working in the country for a long time and they enjoy the way there are being treated, the cost of living the environment and many more , and the neighborhood and people of the place loves the way they relate to people, the might be want them to hold an office there , so they can naturalize .
