WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DISCIPLINE A CHILD? BY @GRACYAKAN

I'm so delighted to be here and participate in this contest,thanks to the admin of this wonderful community.

I'm raising three kids , and is not good to beat a child much or give punishment to a child always, if that is done, it is no more discipline rather chastisement but using the bible to correct and beat a little when necessary or mild punishment is good.
My parents mixed two modes of discipline, authoritative and permissive mode of discipline and they were successful. I use to like it then and now I understand the reason they use that mode of discipline and cherished it a lot.

What Is Discipline?

Discipline is the way of giving correction and teaching a child the acceptable and unacceptable behaviors.
It helps a child to follow set rules and regulations. Effective discipline uses different strategies, Sometimes, mild punishments can also help.

As a parent, it is our duty to teach our child to behave. It's a duty that takes time and need patience. But it helps to know the best and effective discipline strategies.

Mode of discipline

• Show and tell. Teach them what is right and wrong using calm words and actions. Behave the way you want your children to be.

• Set limits. Set clear and consistent rules the children can follow and explain these rules according to their age as they can understand.

• Give consequences. Explain the consequences in firm and calm way ,be sure of doing so to defaulters. If you are taking away something from them never take what a child truly needs, e.g meal.

• Hear them out. Listening to them is very important. Let your child finish what to say before helping them to solve the problem.

• Give them your attention. This is the most powerful strategy for effective discipline and it encourage good behaviors and discourage bad ones and every child needs the attention of the parents.

• Praise them when being good. Children want to know when they do what is good and bad.

• Know when and not to respond. If a child continues doing what is good as far as your child isn't doing what is bad and have much attention for good behavior, ignoring wrong behavior can encourage the child to stop it, helps them to know the natural consequences of each behavior they put up.

• Be prepared for trouble. Plan ahead for
some situations and d find the reason why they misbehave.

• Call a time-out. This can be done when a child breaks rule, you sent the child to the room to stay alone for sometime this will make them realize their mistake and avoid doing again next time.

• Reward good behavior: This encourage good behavior and makes the child to keep it up.

• Natural consequences: Use bible in giving them advise about most of the things that God does not like and the consequences of not obeying God's word.

• Communicate your discipline plan. Tell your children about discipline techniques you want to use it shouldn't come in a hurry especially if you want to try new things.

• Be respectful of your child. Your child will respect you if you show them respect even when you discipline them, there's nothing wrong in apologizing to your child.

• Be consistent. Any strategy will fail if you don't enforce the consequences consistently and always do what you said.

• Don't break your discipline rules : Don't give in to your child's demand if the show tantrums.

Every children, together with babies, need consistent discipline, so talk with your partner and family members, to set rules and regulations for everyone to follows.
