Food challenge contest week #95 || For kids and parents || How to prepare Banga/Palm-kernel soup

This is my 2nd time participating in this contest, and I want to thank @steemkidss for organizing this, I would love to first of all invite, @mesola @rexzitek, @vudeme123 to join this contest. Stay with me as I show you how I made my palm kernel soup.

INGREDIENTS
  • Palm kernel seeds
  • Fresh pepper
  • Salt
  • Maggi
  • Cray fish
  • Meat
  • Stockfish
  • Atama leaf
  • Perewrinkle

The quantity depends on your consumption size

After coming back from the market, it's advisable to bring out all the things you want to use for cooking and keep them on the counter, follow me as I show you the steps on how I prepare this delicious meal.

STEPS INVOLVED.

Step 1.

Boil your Banga in a pot of hot water, when it is soft, turn it into a mortar and pound it. Then add hot water to it to extract the juice of the pounded banga/palm kernel.

Step 2.

Filter the water from the Banga after some time, and put it in the pot that you will use to cook the soup.

Step 3.

In another pot, put your stocks, meat, fish and season them. Heat it up, and when it's done, bring it down and keep it aside.

Step 4.

Keep your Banga water on fire, allow it to boil very well.

Step 5.

After your Banga water has very well, go in with your stocks, and cook it for another 20 minutes.

Step 6.

While this is on fire, boil water to wash your atama leaf. You will wash it till the slime is out of it and then it is ready to be added to the soup. If you dont remive the slime your soup will come out bad and bitter.

Step 7.

After your Banga water is boiling, add your crayfish, onions, Maggie, pepper, salt etc. Then after 10 minutes go in with your leave, and let it boil another 5 minutes. Your delicious soup is ready ti be served. You can serve it with garri, foofoo or semo.

CONCLUSION.

Banga soup is a popular and special delicacy spectacular to the southern part of Nigeria. It is very delicious and will leave you coming back for more. Because of the hard work put into it you don't get to cook it regularly.
The benefit of this soup is that it is both nutritious and medicinal courtesy of the atama leaf.
It is a good source of potassium and oil, the meat is a source of protein too. With this soup you get a balanced diet.
