Behind the Success
Life is not a bed of roses; it is full of necessary sacrifices that shape our journey. As Isaac Newton stated in his third law of motion, For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In the same way, the quality of life we live is often a direct consequence of the choices and sacrifices we make.
It is both amazing and sometimes disheartening to see that while some people struggle with hunger, poverty, and hardship, others live in abundance. This contrast reminds me of the profound truth: life is a choice. Every human being must be willing to sacrifice in order to reach their desired destination in life. As the popular saying goes, If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. Those who live better lives today often have histories filled with discipline, sacrifice, and resilience.
Imagine realizing later in life that you could have attained a better standard of living, but you wasted your opportunities on temporary pleasures. Such a realization would bring regret rather than joy. This is why it is important to make hay while the sun shines, for time never waits for anyone.
Sadly, many people look down on certain occupations, such as shoe repair or vulcanizing, without realizing how profitable these trades can be. In my community, there was once a young, hardworking man who exemplified this truth. Years ago, he began learning vulcanizing at a time when life was tough for him and his siblings. As the breadwinner, he also picked up menial jobs to support his family. Instead of turning to theft, he chose honesty and discipline.
I remember when he used to buy food items from us. He was very careful with money, always adjusting his purchases to fit his budget. Later, when he fully ventured into vulcanizing, he chose a strategic location for his workshop. Within a few years, his life changed remarkably. He purchased a motorcycle and even renovated his family home.
Vulcanizing is indeed a lucrative business. Vehicle, tricycle, and motorcycle owners constantly require their services, as poor road conditions frequently cause tyre punctures. Many prefer repairing tubes over buying new ones, and since tubes deflate often, vulcanizers are always in demand. Commercial vehicles, in particular, may visit them daily. Though their hands and clothes may get dirty, many vulcanizers earn more in a month than some office workers. Moreover, they work on their own terms, free from the embarrassment of missing office deadlines.
The lesson is simple: there is dignity in labour. No job that provides honest earnings should ever be despised. Life is truly a choice, and the quality of tomorrow depends on the sacrifices we are willing to make today.
So, whatever you are doing, ensure it adds value to your future. Remember;pay the price for a better tomorrow. I'm anticipating your reply.
