Social issues and problem

It's good that this topic is highlighted as it's major concern that should be addressed worldwide. Globally, social issues or problems comes in different forms which has negative impact of individuals and societies as a whole. What are these social issues and how can it be curb?

Social issues or problems refer to those concerns or warring problems arising due to factors, including injustices, discrimination, poverty, inequality, etc which greatly affect individuals and the society at large negatively. Some of these social issues that affect the globe are; poverty, inequality, lack of access to healthcare, violence and homelessness. Are these social issues or problems affecting my country? Yes they are.

There are various social issues affecting the growth of my country and these are listed below.

• Corruption in Nigeria is on the high and nothing is done to address this issues.
• Poverty
• Unemployment
• lack of quality education
• Gender inequality
• lack of healthcare access
• Insecurity
• human trafficking and religious conflict

Each of these causes listed above have what causes it and the causes of these problems are from individuals in the country. I'll deliberate on 5 causes of only 4 social problems.

• CORRUPTION: This problem is a major and warring problem in my country. Instead of looking for ways to address this issue, they are looking for ways to reach the top as my country is the third most corrupt country in the world. So it's likely they want to be the first. What causes this social problem?

• bad governance which lack accountability and transparency.

• greed among individuals in positions of authority.

• social norms that condone corruption to obtain wealth.

• lack of effective anti-corruption enforcement and penalties.

• POVERTY: This is also one factor that affects the globe. The percent of poverty striken individuals is on the high today. This is because;
• economic opportunities are limited which includes lack of jobs and income inequality.
• lack of skills development
• lack of education
• corruption
• unequal distribution of resources and wealth.

• UNEMPLOYMENT: This has also been a debilitating issue as many are left in a depressed and poverty state due to lack of jobs for sustenance of which the following causes it;

• debilitating economic growth

• lack of education and skills needed for a particular job

• inadequate investment in industries that would create job creation for many.

• lack of suitable jobs for young people

• limited access to capital to be manifested and independent.

• EDUCATION: Lack if education in Nigeria is one major problem that has made many displaced emotional and mentally. Because of lack of education, many has been left unemployed or deserted. The following are its causes.

• Poverty and limited access to quality education

• high dropout rate due to early marriages and poverty.

• inadequate resources and funding to improve the infrastructure of schools as well as pay teachers well.

• inadequate emphasis on technical and practical Education.

• gender and regional disparities.

HIV/AIDS as we all know are acronyms which means Human immuno deficiency Virus and Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. These are viral infection that attacks and weaken the immune system, making it susceptible to diseases and other infections. HIV leads to AIDS which is the last stage of the infection and has no cure.

These infections are contacted through body fluids e.g blood, transmitted through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, sharing of syringes and the likes.

To prevent these infections, one must practice safe sex and avoid sharing needles used by infected person. Using Pre-Exposed prophylaxis and avoid Mother-to-Child transmission

• Substance Abuse:
• Individuals: substance abuse is one problem of social issues that have negative impact on individuals, leading to mental health issues such as addiction, poor decision making and increased risks of injuries and accident. This can result to loss of employment or damage relationships between individuals

1. Family: Substance Abuse can lead to conflicts, strained relationships among family members and even mistrust. Substance Abuse can also impair the physical and mental health of members of the family.

2. Society: Substance avuse can have a negative impact in the society as social services and law enforcement would be strained and violence, social unrest and economic instability can arise as a result of substance abuse.

• Discrimination:

• Individuals: Discrimination can have negative impacts on individuals who are targeted or deserted based on their tribes, gender or religion which can lead to low self-esteem and emotional stress.

• In the family, discrimination can cause stress and trauma among members of the family which would affect communication and result in syrsined family ties and even social isolation.

• Society: Discrimination can lead to protests and conflicts in the society which hinders social progress.

Examination malpractice refers to those unethical behavior that occur during examination. It's an academic misconduct that undermines the fairness of the examination process which is not condone that's why invigilators are present to oversee the working and nature of the examination hall.
Some activities that are termed examination malpractice are; cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized use of technology, exam leakage, impersonation, etc.

In conclusion, social problems are of various types and it comes in various form. These social issues can be addressed by the government and individuals as well. Plagiarism can be termed a form of examination malpractice in Steemit which should be condone. Thanks to the organizer of this contest.
