The significance of encouraging children to read at home
It is our responsibility as adults to create the right environment for our children to be encouraged to read. As a preschool teacher, I regularly stress to the parents of my young students the value of instilling the habit of reading in their children. I have personally been able to realize how reading skills play a crucial role in children's psychological development.
How can I do such a thing is a common question.
Similar to how they enjoy having toys in special places, we can create in their room a space that is equally important to them with colorful books that they are interested in first to see and be distracted in their innocent images, and then we read them to them with a lot of delivery and that the content calls their attention. Read them as many times as they request them because listening to us will also improve their language and interest in learning.
One of the things we need to remember is that we need to be interested in their reading preferences. To do this, we should let them explore, open the books, and be curious about the images and the stories they contain. After that, we should get used to reading those books with them at home, whether we do it at first and then encourage them to try it on their own. Often, these books help people unwind before bed.
It's crucial to establish a daily reading practice or habit; they may pick the times that work best for them. This may be accomplished by switching off between parents so that the kid does not feel uncomfortable when one of them is unable to read because the youngster has already practiced with both parents.
Let's not forget that before we were grownups, we were children. When I was a youngster, I adored having my parents read or tell me a story every night. I was also an avid reader from a young age because I was intrigued by tales about princesses and where there was always a happy ending.
There is nothing more enjoyable than for them to read to their younger siblings as a multiplier effect, so I propose making time for this in a way that you may take turns and you will see how your children's abilities increase in a complete way, something that both teachers and parents desire.
