How are you doing? I want to use this opportunity to thank @ngoenyi for coming up with this contest. I'm happy to be a part of it. This story I'm about to share is was told in class by my classmate when I was in primary 5. And I was about 9 by then. I hope you learn from it too.
Once upon a time, in a village called Obio, there lived an old man who was so wealthy. This man had only one son and so many slaves. One day, he decided to send his only son to school so that he could acquire knowledge which in the long run would help him to spend his material possessions well.
While the young boy was away, the old man fell very sick and thought that he might die. This made him to write a will. In his will, he gave most of his properties to his chief slave and left one small portion of it for his son to choose from. He did this because he was scared that they will kill his son if he gave him all his rightful possessions instead. The chief slave on the other hand was very excited since this meant that he will acquire a greater part of the old man's possessions while the son only a smaller part of it.
The old man died finally and his son was invited. The boy felt so dejected when he heard of his father's death and when they read out what was in the will, he felt even worse. The villagers had gathered to share the property following what was stated in the will but they felt sad for the boy. When the time came for the man's son to choose the part of his father's property he needed, he became very confused. His father's closest friend, who had come to console him now advised him on what to do. The boy stood up, looked around then cleared his throat and told the villagers present that he wanted the chief slave himself since he was a part of his father's property.
In the end, the man's son inherited all his father's properties because whatever belonged to the chief slave belonged to the master of the chief slave. The villagers were happy at the young boy's wise choice but the chief slave was not happy.
Lessons:
- A wise counsellor is better than riches.
- Wisdom is the principal thing.
- Seek counsel from the right people.
- No man is an island and so everyone needs a mentor to guide them in different aspects of life.
- Life will come with challenges but with wisdom, one can triumph over them.
- It is never wise to be selfish like the chief slave.
- The choices we make matter in life.
I am so intrigued my this story. I enjoyed every line of it.

Wow, very interesting story of the boy, he was smart enough to think about what to choose as his father's will, I am glad he did, indeed a very interesting story.
