The Diary game: Graduation day in my school (2/7/2024)

Good morning and happy weekend from me, Destinedhanik from Nigeria. Here in Nigeria, school has closed for the term and parents are resting from early morning school runs, this rest will be exactly for one month. I can't really say so for teachers sha. So, we rounded off the term with graduation party and I bring you highlights of the event. Relax while I put you through.

MORNING ACTIVITIES

2nd of August was a day we had planned for right from the beginning of third term which was early may, and the D-Day had arrived. I woke up late sha because I didn't want to arrive at the venue too early. Staff had been shared into groups to take care of things. I made sure I ate before I left the house. The first thing that was done in the morning was arrangement and decoration of the venue.

By 11am, the graduands which was made up of nursery 2 class, primary 5 class, js3 class and ss3 class processed from the primary section of the school to the venue. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The nursery 2 pupils were happy that they will be in primary in September, the primary 5 pupils were happy to be saying goodbye to primary school, the js3 students were glad they were no more going to be in junior secondary but senior secondary abd the ss3 students were in a state of absolute euphoria because they were now free from secondary school and all the rules abd regulations and were on their way to greater heights, and some of us, the teachers were happy to let them go so as to focus on another set.

The main event started in the afternoon. Different classes had different presentations to make to make the party colourful.

I was happy seeing my students all dressed beautifully on their day. A teacher is only part of a student's life, but there comes a time when they will part and might not see again. I was happy my students were moving to greater heights but I was also sad cos I won't see some of them again as some will be changing schools so I took pictures for memories sake. The event finally ended at about 4pm.

EVENING ACTIVITIES

In the evening, after we had closed at about 5pm, I went home. I was extremely tired. I had my bath, ate and then went to bed. I slept immediately till morning. I had a fulfilled day. There is something fulfilling about being a teacher and that is seeing your students move forward in life.
