Social Studies Lesson: Environmental Problems
Greetings to everyone!
I designed it using canva.
My sincere appreciation goes to our beloved tutor, @udyliciouz, for such an amazing class. No doubt, knowledge was gained, and now we all know the implications of polluting our environment. Human activities affect the environment, but we should try to limit how much harm we cause to our environment.
An environmental problem can simply refer to any situation that makes humans, plants, and animals uncomfortable in their environment. Environmental problems can be man-made or natural.
Human activities affect the environment negatively, which can result in an environmental problem. Environmental problems can also occur naturally without the effort of humans.
There are two major kinds of environmental problems, which we will try to include: artificial environmental problems and natural environmental problems.
- Artificial Environmental problems
Pollution: Humans pollute the water bodies and kill the aquatic life, thereby making the water unsuitable for drinking.
Improper Disposal Of Sewage: Artificial Environmental Problems are all caused by human activities, and improper disposal of sewage is one. Companies also dump their sewage in water bodies without considering the aftereffects of doing so.
Deforestation: The cutting down of trees without planting new ones can as well result in environmental problems. Our houses are exposed to wind, so erosion occurs.
- Natural environmental problems
Flood
Earthquake
Erosion
Volcanic eruptions
There are so many causes of environmental problems, and these include;
Human Activities: The construction of roads, farm clearing, and the building of our house can result in environmental problems as natural vegetation must be tempered before such is achieved.
Nature: Nature itself causes harm to our environment, for example, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, e.t.c.
Pollution: This can as well fall under human activities; humans pollute both the air, water, and land while carrying out their day-to-day activities.
The aftereffects of environmental problems are undoubtedly bad, and it takes time for a community or country that suffers environmental problems to recover.
- Environment problems can result in the loss of lives and valuable properties.
- Leaves farmland in critical condition, making it unsuitable for the planting of crops.
- Environmental problems cause people to suffer hardship.
There are so many measures we can use to save our environment.
- Afforestation, the planting of trees and vegetation, can help save our environment.
- Humans should be careful and dispose of waste and sewage properly.
- Erosion control
