Social Studies Lesson 7: Family and Family bond.

Hello Everyone.

I never knew about the ongoing social studies class until yesterday, it broke my heart that I have missed out on a lot already but I won't anymore. Much appreciation to our tutor @udyliciouz for taking out time to tutor us, we are happy and we appreciate.

Families play a vital role in the society, it might be a small unit in the community but without this small unit the community won't be in existence, because the families that lives in the community is what actually makes up the community.

It should be noted that a family must not be related by blood, some are adopted and they all live as if they are related by blood and contribute heavily to the growth and development of the society. For everyone family should be a priority and do everything for their family to stay together as one.

Family can simply be defined as a set of people living together, this set of people can either be related by blood or an adoption was involved. Each member of a family is expected to ensure that togetherness is a thing in the family, a broken family means a broken society and a divided community.

The family might be a small unit but still plays a vital role in the community and society.

There are two major types of family and these are:

• Nuclear Family.
• Extended Family.

Nuclear Family: This simply refers to the small unit of the society which comprises of the Father, mother and their children. The nuclear family only deals with ones immediate family, no other relatives involved.

Extended Family: This type of family does not deal with just the immediate family members but Extends to other relatives both far and near. The extended family comprises of grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunty, cousins and every other relatives living in the same house.

Family bond can be defined as that special connection that keeps the family together, family bond promotes togetherness and a lot of things can be done to promote family togetherness.

If family members do not try to bond with one another and accept each other for who they are, then there will be division in the family, every family member's right should be respected and every member is expected to have a sense of responsibility.

A lot of thing contributes to family bond, a lot of things can be done to bring the family together and make sure there's no division. These things includes:

• Spending Quality Time Together: we might be a family but we all have different characters, different likes and dislikes, different hobbies, therefore family members spending quality time together will give room for understanding each other, once there is understanding between family members then there won't fights and quarrels amongst family members.

• Eating Together: In my house my siblings and I eat together, we were able to bond through eating together at that moment when we struggle or fight for who gets the last spoon or the last meat we after everything laughed at ourselves. Eating Together contributes a lot to family bond.

• Take Part In Each Others Hobby: If family members with different hobby are able to take part and enjoy one another's hobby, bonding will take place as memories will be shared.

• Family Outing: Going out on family outings once in a while can as contribute to family bonding, many families hardly go out especially on this side of world (Africa) but today we are made to know that family outing promotes togetherness in the family.

• Family Games: A game amongst family members won't be bad, it encourages togetherness, my siblings and I do play games sometimes, truth or dare tho many claim the game is bad but I am still to see what is really bad in the game.

In a conclusion, every family we see living together happily is as a result of family bond, the ability to understand and tolerate each other. Family plays a vital role in our society.
