Hi guys, it's always beautiful waking up and knowing that there would always be a platform that awaits good content from me. Seeing this contest this morning, made me happier because I have a lot to say on the above topic. I want to sincerely appreciate the steemit platform for making this platform an outstanding one. Thanks to our able country representative @goodybest for bringing up this topic, which is a moral everyone needs to learn from, and below, I will be sharing my opinion and a story on the above topic so keep reading down, please.

Honestly simply means being plain, being just yourself by uttering nothing but the truth of the matter without any form of lies to cover up for either yourself or any other party. It is not always easy to be honest, but it gives people a look and a mark on your face of how truthful you are. The Bible says, that grace is ever sufficient. There are a lot of benefits of being honest and some of which I will be mentioning immediately after my story.

The story

I am a teacher by profession and I always work hard to ensure I accomplish all I should. Being a teacher is simply a burden to be carried, the burden to carry each child along in everything. Now, as a teacher, colleagues, students and even the heads of the school observes and watches your attitude. The only easiest policy to be used and seen by people is the policy of honesty. I go to work early as 7:00 am and at the point of using the time book which is meant for every teacher, there is always dishonesty.

Going to work and sincerely writing the time whether late or not is the forever thing I will do as a teacher and I kept doing that not until one day, my principal called me to her office and started asking why I took Christianity on my head as a woman. I answered her kindly saying, I am not doing this because of any religious purpose but for the person I wish to be.

So, last week, we held a PTA (Parents and teachers association) meeting where all parents came and agreed to digitalize the result of the students such that even at home or on vacation the students can check their results online with the card issued to the students.

After the meeting held with the student's parents, there was a conclusion that each student would pay 500 naira which is steem equivalent to 2.1 steem for the card to be issued. The principal called all the staff of the school to deliberate on who to be given this contract, the principal also further gave criteria of the one person he wants in that position. Most of my colleagues were pointing to a particular staff named Kolade because he is more vast when it comes to technology.

I never taught of myself but after some argument, the principal stood up and announced who he wants in that post. From nowhere I heard my name and I was feeling too inferior to handle that position but he said it is a mandate he has given so I should learn how to go about it. Friends, it has not been easy but I tried my best to do the best I can, especially in the aspect of record keeping for accountability.

Lessons learned

It's simple. I never can tell why my principal chose me but I want to believe it's the conversation we had concerning the time book. It could be that he has overseen the honesty I have been using on the time book on the contract to be given so, honesty pays.

  • Honestly gives a sincere name.

  • Honestly lifts you to where you never thought to be.

  • Honestly pays in due time.

  • Honestly is a policy to capture people's minds.

  • Honestly attracts positive people to you.

In conclusion, it is not easy to be this honest but it pays in due time. To crown it all, honesty is the best policy. Thank you all for reading through to this point and I want to specially invite my following friends to also participate in this contest.@badmus-official, @josepha, and @jueco. Thank you and I wish you the very best.

It always pays to be honest. You've been appointed the role because the principal trusted you, there's a saying, he who's truthful in small things will be honest in big things. Thanks for sharing your experience with us here, I wish you success!
