@Ngoenyi Contest// Let's Talk About Summer In My Country
We are talking about summer. In Nigeria, we have the raining season and the dry season. The dry season is often called harmattan or winter in other parts of the world.
I live in the southern part of Nigeria, Delta State precisely. Summer in my place often begins in August.
During the summer, what we experience is rain. It rains often here. It rains even to the month of December. Yesterday, it rained heavily that it got everywhere wet.
Due to the nature of the roads in my environment, the rain is not favourable to us. It gets the roads spoilt and keeps the environment messy.
Due to the weather condition, people often go about with their umbrella or rain coat for school children. Drying of clothes is very difficult during this season. People put ropes inside their houses, so as to hang their clothes. There is little sunshine. Once the sun comes out, people also bring out their clothes to be sunned. People do not host occasions much during this season except the need be. Most people who summon courage to host occasions often rent a hall for the event. Wearing of cardigan is important during this season.
Farmers often enjoys this season, this is the season their crops often grow well. They plant vegetables, maize and other crops. They don't need to pray for the rain to come because it is often here with us. Grasses grow well alot,also ornamental flowers grow well bringing out it's beautiful flowers and petals.
Businesses move slowly, although it depends on the business. Businesses like building, construction, is often interrupted by the rain. This also affects those who sell the materials for building, such as gravel sellers,cement sellers and others.
Schools and schooling move on well. The rain doesn't interrupt learning. Schools here have good classrooms that prevents the school children from been beaten by rain
We often experience rain here during the summer and we are used to it. Winter begins here from January.
