Like the Isurumuniya Vihara, Isurumuniya is also famous for the love couple. So in the museum of the Isurumuniya Vihara, we can see the Isurumuniya love couple created out of clay. In addition to this, you can see other designs like man and horse head, Dutugamunu royal family. Here. Although other creations can be photographed with special permission, we were not given permission to take photos of Isurumuniya love couple. The reason for that is to prevent damage to those creations and protect them for future generations to see.

So I thought of presenting information about this.Actually, the carving depicting this Isurumuniya love couple was found in the area called Ranmasu Uyana near the Isurumuniya Temple.

The engraving depicts the woman sitting on the leg of the man in this painting.

It is not yet known who is depicted in this carving. But different people have different opinions. Some people say that this carving depicts Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. Others say that this is Prince Saliya, the son of King Dutugemunu, the king of Sri Lanka, and his wife Ashokamala. .
