Fishery🐟

Fishery 🐟 is a branch of agriculture that deals with the rearing, growing, feeding, preservation, marketing and harvesting of fish and other aquatic food organisms.
It also refers to the cultivation and management of fish in an enclosed body of water, wether artificial or natural.
Natural waters include oceans, seas, lagoons, river and lakes. "While" artificial waters include water in fish ponds, tanks and vessels plastics.
The structure of fish 🐟 makes it possible for it to live successfully in water, that is the streamline body shape, the possession of gills and the swim bladder. Another adaptability of fish in water is that they are cold-blooded animal and are able to change their body temperature, according to the environment where they find themselves.
In other words, if the surrounding water is cold, most of the fish 🐟 will change their body temperature same thing if the environment is hot.
Other aquatic organisms that live inside water include shrimps, Crab's, lobsters, prawn, turtle, alligator, crocodiles and squids🦑.

For easy identification and proper management of fish, it's advisable to classify them based on the following, fish can be classified into two major categories:
- According to habitat
- According to body structures (morphology).
Fresh water fish: These are the fish that live and and grow in fresh water. Fresh water simply means that the salt content of such water is low. Examples of such fish are tilapia and catfish. Fresh water include; river, fish pond and lake.
Salt water or marine fish: This fish lives and grow in salty water of oceans, seas and lagoons. The salt content of these bodies of water is high. Examples of fishes that live in salty or marine water are shark🦈, whale, rays, barracuda, salmon, mackerel, croaker and tuna.
Here, fishes can be classified into bony and cartilaginous fish.
Bony fish: These are fish that have a skeleton made of bone and cartilage. The majority of this class of fish 🐟 is found in fresh water, example of them are ad follows tilapia, catfish, sardines, salmon and perch. These fish are hardy; they have the ability to withstand harsh conditions. Thus, they fall into the category of fish that farmers rear in fish ponds and tanks.
Cartilaginous fish: This fish is made up of cartilage and contains no bones. They mostly live and grow in salty water of oceans, lagoons and seas. They cannot be easily reared in fish ponds and tanks. Common examples are whales, sharks, rays, dolphins and seals.

Animals that live in water are called aquatic animals. Notable example of these aquatic organisms are shell-fish, crabs, prawns, frogs, lobsters, turtle, crocodiles, hippopotamus, whales, oysters, alligator, periwinkle popularly know in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and infim or isam, squids🦑, octopus, dolphins and seals. Like other animals, aquatic organisms can either be vertebrate or invertebrate animals.
Vertebrate are animals with backbone or spinal cord, while invertebrate are animals without backbones or spinal cord.
Example of vertebrate include amphibians, (e.g. frogs and toads); reptiles, (e.g. crocodile, alligator and turtle); mammals, (e.g. whales, hippopotamus, seals, dolphins, rays)
Mammals bring forth their young ones alive.
The invertebrate include the molluscs ( e.g oysters, squids, octopus, periwinkle); arthropods (e.g. Shellfish, crabs, lobsters, shrimps and prawns).
