STEEMKIDS CRYPTO ACADEMY WEEK 7/TYPES OF BLOCKCHAIN /PART 2/10% payout to steemkids
A lovely week ahead for all our steemkids. I am happy to engage you once more in another week of steemkids crypto academy.
Last week, we discussed about blockchain types and discussed only two types. We said that we will finish the remaining types this week.
This week, we will be discussing on the remaining two types
● Hybrid Blockchain
● Consortium Blockchain
Hybrid Blockchain
This is the type of blockchain with the combining characteristics of both the public and private blockchain. It supports organizations to run a non-permisionless system simultaneously with a permisionless ones. This qualities enables them take control over some restricted information while allowing less sensitive ones to be opened for the public to access.
In this kind of blockchain, even though some information are not for public access, they can still be verified via smart contracts. We also need to bear in mind that any information or data in a hybrid blockchain can not be altered, it is immutable.
Advantages
● The identity of the users are not known by other users
● it runs a closed system, thus making it difficult for a 51% attack happen.
● The fees taken by the system is very cheap.
● The scalability is higher than that a public blockchain
Disadvanttages
● It cannot be said to be fully decentralized, thus no transparency.
● There is no way of rewarding users who contribute to the blockchain.
● Upgrading a hybrid blockchain is usually capital intensive, so funds can be a problem in doing that.
Consortium Blockchain
This type of blockchain is also known as federated blockchain. it can be said to be a private blockchain owned by many companies, limiting access to a group, in such a way that no one entity controls the entire network of the blockchain.
The consensus protocol is determined by preset nodes. it also makes use of validators to start, receive and validate transactions.
Pros
● It is more secured than a public blockchain.
● It is also more scalable and highly efficient than a public blockchain.
● It also gives control to the owners, users will be required to get authorization before being given access to some information.
Cons
● It is not a very transparent blockchain, so it can not be said to be fully decentralized.
● Since the nodes are preset, If a node within the blockchain is breached, the network can be compromised.
● The way the system is regulated can stall the efficient operation of the network.
Assignment
● Define and explain a Hybrid blockchain
● List the advantages and disadvantages of a Hybrid blockchain.
● Define and Explain a Consortium Blockchain
● Tell us the pros and cons of a Consortium blockchain.
