Why tortoise has a broken shell

Once upon a time, all the birds decided to hold their meeting in the sky. So messages were sent to all varieties of birds that non of them should be found missing. The tortoise being a curious and a cunning animal, became aware of the meeting and was reaching the birds to carry it along. The birds he pleaded refused to take him away saying he was cunning and misleading. The tortoise said no, that he is now a changed person.

The birds finally allowed the tortoise to attend the meeting

After so much plea from the turtle, the bird agreed to allow the turtle to attend the meeting with them. He also felt that even though the tortoise is very clever, he is more eloquent and versatile than all of them. So they told the tortoise that he would be the speaker of the event which the tortoise happily accepted. Each of the birds gave their wings the tortoise so that he could fly with them.

On the way, the tortoise informed them about the new tradition from place to place. He pointed out that while attending such meetings, that everyone has to change their name. The birds agreed and changed their names. Then the tortoise told them that their new name will be (all of you). They kept flying and reached the point of meeting. The meeting now starts properly with being a turtle speaker.

He personally addressed and recognized all of them and excited the birds on how they performed including the host of the meeting. After several discussions about their welfare, it's time to serve food. As the food was presented the tortoise asked quickly "Who do you present this food? "All of you" replied the presenter. The tortoise reminded them that since his name is all of you, he has to eat food alone.

The same thing happened when meat and drinks were presented. The tortoise ate all the food and drink. He had to leave the bones to eat only the birds. The birds became so angry with what the tortoise did.

Time to get back from the meeting

After the meeting was closed, the birds took all the wings given to the tortoise. He told the birds that he told his wife that he should prepare soft beds and pillows to fall on the ground. The birds refused to message. But the parrot tortoise agreed to message the wife.

When the parrot went home, he informed the tortoise wife that her husband said that he should collect all the knives, and other dangerous belongings and keep it where he would be falling. The tortoise wife said as a parrot. When the tortoise fell from the sky, he landed on those knives and dangerous weapons. All the parts of his body broke including his shell.

Luckily for him, there was a herbalist close to his house and his wife ran away quickly to call him. The herbalist came and used his medicines to heal the tortoise. He also sewed the tortoise shell and the tortoise was cured.

This is why the turtle has a broken shell till date.
