A Healthy Environment Equals a Healthy Living

INTRODUCTION

Each time I remember this particular contest titled: “my actions to make our environment cleaner, greener and healthier" which was in the past, usually hosted by our dear @ngoenyi, it seems as if we have lost grip on making efforts to keep our environment clean. During those time, steemians in the community were fully engaged with that contest as everyone showed the measures they were taking in keeping their environs clean.

I would be using this opportunity to request the re-introduction of this engaging contest once again. Or better still, let it be included in the *All in one contest. I am sure that by this, parents and kids would happy to participate.

Today, I engaged myself on a healthy environmental clean up exercise. As we all know, a healthy environment engenders a healthy living. Whenever our environment is left unclean, our health would in danger. The danger is that when we live in unhealthy environment, we are at the risk of contracting different kind of diseases.

During the rainy season just as we are in it, weeds grow rapidly more than the plants. I had been planning to find time a day, to clear the weeds around my environment. Fortunately enough, today is the last Saturday of the month and my state and we usually observe the monthly sanitation exercise. The monthly sanitation exercise starts from 7:00 am and last till 10:00 am in the morning.

It was really a very busy day for me to deal with the weeds. Clearing them up today gave me a sigh of relief and would wish they never grow again. As you could see, a mere hands could not have done but by the use of some implements. Made use of Cutlass, shovel and rake in the exercise.

The environment is quite large so I could not finish it today, I was able to clear up the major part of the environment which is the front side of the building. The part where I have a small vegetable garden was also cleared so that the vegetable would grow and spread freely.

The backyard is the next part that is the next part that would be cleaned. I may not have time to clear it so it happens that way, will hire some people to do it.
