How Palm Oil Is Made

in Steem Kids & Parents4 months ago

Hola amigos! Greetings to everyone! I'm Anthony from Nigeria, and I welcome you all to my blog, where I will be telling you, guys, about Palm oil in my country, how it's made, and all the processes and steps you need to know. It will be an interesting discussion.

Processes/Steps on how palm oil is made

Step one

Firstly, cut your palm nut, popularly known as "Banga" In Nigeria, after cutting the palm nut from the tree, use a cutlass to share the big bunch into small sizes, then gather all the Banga in a cool, dry place and cover them with a polythene bag for a week.

That will soften and enable it to pick easier, some people prefer picking, but filtering is faster.

Step two

After cleaning them up, load 'em up in a bag that will contain the quantity, then we take it to the mill where all the processing will be done, then set up a burning fire and keep the big Cook pot on top of the fire, pour plenty of water into the pot, and also pours the Banga into the pot.

The vapor density was very high!

If the quantity of water is not above the level of the Banga, we add water to it, and if the quantity of water is not above the level of the Banga, we add water to it and cover the pot. Here, we normally use a bag to cover the pot, but I don't know if it's compulsory, I think the bag generates more heat, which will enable the Banga to soften quickly.

Step three

Since the pot of Banga had been cooking for several hours and the palm oil was softening, this step is where we will fetch out all the palm nuts using a filter, so the water can drip accessible through the filter spaces. After fetching them out of the pot, turn it into a big bowl that can contain all the nuts.

Step four

This is the pounding stage. Using the specific machine for it, when you pour some Banga inside the turned-on machine, it will move in a circular motion, and the skin of the Banga will pill off the nuts. Then we use a big basin to fetch the Banga and carry it to the presser engine.

Step five

Here, we use the presser to press out all the oil from the pounded Banga. Before starting, we pour the Banga inside the presser until it reaches the top, then we cover it as there is strength to tie it, then it will be pushed down, and then the oil will come out. The oil was rushing nonstop, which is funny how the process is.

Step six

There's also a machine called the separator. This particular machine separates the kernel from the chaff, but after all, it will still be cooked and bring out the real palm oil, which some Nigerians call "red oil" because of its color. I don't have much idea how the cooking is being processed, but I know it's the final stage of Oil processing.

I hope my blog was interesting, understandable, and helpful
