THE ACCIDENT I WITNESSED.

We all have one life to live, but most people take it so cheap. What i witnessed last month makes me take my daily life so important and precious. This may sound unreal, but it's a true life story.

I witnessed a very serious accident on the 23rd of may 2023. This incident happened nearly opposite our compound. There's this new construction site near our home, where guys do work as labourers and they get paid in the evening after work, i mostly spend my time there to learn some certain things as an architect.

On one faithful evening after work, workers we're paid by the site engineer, then 2 labourers named James and Nathaniel, were to share some money they worked for. They were arguing on how to share it equally, but unfortunately, James needed 70 percent of the money, while Nathaniel take 30 percent, and this wasn't even the agreement, so Nathaniel himself didn't agree to take 30 percent. As the argument was ongoing, James who needed 70 percent of the money, snatched the money from Nathaniel and ran away.

Tilling work was ongoing, so some of the tilers went after James, though we told them not to go, they insist they must get the money and share it equally, guess what happened. James noticing that Nathaniel and other workers are chasing him with harmful tools, carelessly crossed the busy road without observing, and he was hit by a car, despite the driver trying to hold on to his brake, probably his brake failed, according to the driver after the incident.

Nathaniel was so shocked, and he blamed himself for what happened that evening. The accident was so serious, because the driver's wind screen was smashed into pieces. I thought James won't make it, though Nathaniel and other workers rushed him to the hospital that moment.

I wanted to follow them to witness everything to the end, but the keke they picked was full, so i had to go back home and hopefully wait for goodnews. I couldn't cross the road freely for 3 days after what i witnessed that day. You may want to know what later happened to James, right?

Well, the goodnews is that the James who was hit down seriously by a car is alive, but the bad news is that he can't walk again, he's always on a wheel chair, and right now, he's making shoes to earn a living.
