After carefully reading through your post, I spot out one thing which I will apply in my family life. You talked about your family as your best friend when you are free for work. Most people will know value spending time with strangers outside during break at work, but you do the other way around which is very good for the family. Playing different game with your family also makes them happy and feel loved. Also, having a one on one conversation as you did will make them open their mind and have that freedom of expression.
