SEC14 WK:#5: Charity Begins at home
Greeting steemians and compliment of the season. Am glad to be here again and before I proceed , I want to invite my friends @beewrites, @jovita30 and @ruthjoe to participate in this contest.
What is your view about charity and do you believe that it should begin at home?
Charity also known as love is the act of showing kindness and reaching out to others around us in love from our hearts not because we want topple to see us but because we genuinely care for people.
Charity is a good thing and we were enjoined in the Bible fo show charity to people and this was reiterated through the story of the Good Samaritan which most of us is conversant with.
I believe that charity should begin at home. Infact this is a very popular saying. We are asked to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. How can you do good to outsiders and not do good to those within. You have to start from inside before you proceeded to outside.
I have seen various cases where people neglect those who are with them in the same house and those of their immediate family but they go outside and take care of outsider while their own family suffer.
I simply see that as pretentious and trying to curry people favour or make people call you good names. If you really want to be good, start from within. Charity should begin at home.
What is the motivating factor for charity work and is it good to broadcast what you have done for others.
The motivating factor for charity should be genuine love and care for people and not to be seen. The Bible says that when we give to people or do good works, we should not let our right hand to know what our left hand is doing and I believe that’s how it should be.
We shouldn’t broadcast what we are doing to people, most people who do that only want to be seen and praised. We should do good without having to broadcast it to the world.
When was the last time you carried out charity work to the members of your home.
I carry out charity work every now and then. I have to my family members during this Christmas season and not just to them and also to some persons who are around me. I gave out shoes and clothes and even money.
Your advice to others about charity
My advice to others about charity is that it’s a good things and we should reach out to people always as much as we can. A lot of people are passing through difficult times and little acts of chat can make a whole lot of difference in their lives but above all, let it begin at home.

In the Bible, we are encouraged to show charity and love to others, just like the story of the Good Samaritan teaches us. And I completely agree that charity should begin at home. We're told to love our neighbors as ourselves, and that includes our immediate family. It's important to take care of those within our own household before reaching out to others.
It's disheartening to see people neglecting their own family while trying to appear charitable to outsiders. That kind of behavior seems pretentious and motivated by the desire for recognition. True charity should start from within, from a place of genuine love and care.
