Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC) WK14:#1: Neglect in families, effects on kids

I am here to participate in another week of steemit engagement challenge hosting in the steem kids and parents, is the responsibility of every parents to take proper care of their children and also give them maximum support when they needs us most and this will show that we are good loving parents.

What does neglect of responsibilities mean in a family?

Neglect of responsibility within the family circle is very common in Africa especially in Nigeria where parents does not cater or support their kids financially and morally upbringing.

Father who is the head of the family are expected to provide shelter, clothes, food and water for the family because family are always stand with us when the thing become hard.

Some parents do not care what their child do in school, what they eat, where they lives and which friends they are associate with.

Many parents have neglected their duties, some children who used to bring brand new clothes to the house are not questioning by the parents instead for the parents to do their finding correctly where the child see those clothes.

I pity those mother who hustle everyday to ensure the children not die of starvation, after the mother successfully feeds those children, father will just walk in and ask where is my food, the food he doesn't provide for the family.

I have never been neglected but this happened during my National youth service in Kano state, Nigeria. Where parents enrolled their child to the Madrasa (Arabic school). The moments children mixed with other students parents abandoned them and children were seen around the street begging for money to buy food.

Parents forgot their responsibility towards their kids and most of them do not recognised their parents because parental care is not exist again.

Children who are neglected may develop psychological problem which may eventually lead to high risk behavior. Their academic performance will be affected because they will not be able to compete with other students who are sound academically.

Some of this children join Bokoharam insurgency due to inability to meet their target goals after they successfully joined this association, the leader of this sect will order them to carryout some criminal acts such as killing of innocent soul, bombing viewing center, mosque and church. All these have negative effects to the society because life and property worth billions of naira are destroys. Children who suppose to be in schools are use as the instrument of devil.

Your advice to parents who neglect their responsibilities towards their kids.

• Parents must have enough time to play with their children particularly by hanging around in a beautiful places, enjoy meal together and spend some quality time together. Doing this to our kids will make them happy that they have parents who usually show love and care.

• Parents must be a good role model and mentor, kids always watching our attitude or behaviour either positively or negatively. Positive aspect is very important by showing love, respect, kindness and compassionate to others in the society. We must encourage our kids to do good always and helps others as much as they can.

• Kids are the future leader of every country, as a parents we must make sure they receive quality education and we should also provide them with basic things that they may need in school such as school bag, pen, pencil, uniform and books. In addition is the responsibility of every parents to ask their children what their teacher taught them in class.

• Finally, parents especially father must make everything possible to ensure family do not lack anything such as shelter and all other basic thing of life.

Your advice to the kids who are neglected

My advice to them is to show love to everybody in the society, and they must also respect those who adopt them into their family. They must associate themself with good friends which is very important to help them plan their life effectively. Bad friends can spoil once life which sometime lead to total destruction of life.

Also, children should not see this acts (Neglecting) as end of the world because the future of everyone is in the hand of creators. Some children who face difficult period survive because they understand how life work.

Conclusion

Every children have the right to enjoy their life to the fullest, and is also the responsibility of the parents to ensure students have access to quality education and adequate health care. I will like to invite @adunni, @solaymann and @josepha to participate.
