CONTEST: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words - 7/9/2021
Interesting picture. It is most likely artists' composition as it has a symbolic meaning as a picture, while it wouldn't have any should it be a photograph.
The symbolic meaning is drawn from the barbwire - it's the symbol of prison, from which there is no escape. Prison could also be perceived in a metaphorical sense, signifying, for example, a dead-end job or an unhealthy relationship.
Conversely, the bird sitting on the wire, ready to fly away, a symbol of freedom because for a bird, barbwire isn't an obstacle for movement.
On the other hand, should this be a photograph, it would be voided of any meaning since the bird who sat on the barbwire has no concept of prison in human understanding of that word. For a bird, it is just another surface to sit on.
The bird might not be aware but the one who took the photo might be.
