Human Health || How To You React To Sickness

Hello Hello Steemingzens. It is a good thing to be among the contestants in this competition. I want to thank the admin @steemingcuration for this topic. It is an opportunity to share and learn from everybody's live experiences as it concerns health as we thrive in this world.

Before I go on to talk about the topic I am interested in I want to briefly define health.
Health according to WHO (World Health Organization) can be defined as a state of complete physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of an individual and not merely the absence of disease or infirmities. Or simply put, health is a state of well-being.

Let me elaborate on the definition above. According to WHO, health is not a state of the absence of disease or infirmities. It is far more than that. You have to be physically, mentally, socially and emotionally healthy to be an healthy individual. This means that when one have any form of physical deformity, the other component one's health is affected, when one has any form of quarrel with neighbours, friends or family members, the rest component are affected. One health problem leads to another and this is why WHO certify that for a person to be called an healthy individual, all the components of health must be put into consideration.

This therefore means that there is no single healthy individual in the world today. Why did I say so? Are you just knowing this for the first time?" There is no one person in the whole world who is physically, mentally, emotionally and socially healthy at the same time.
Even as this is so, we can take conscious and extra effort to make sure that we are healthy because health is wealth.


HOW DO YOU REACT TO SICKNESS?

Life is very short and transient and we need to take extra effort to take care of our bodies in time of illness. It is very important that we go the extra mile to be healthy when our system fails us as no one wants to die at a young age.

The length of time a disease condition stays in one's body is dependent on one's reaction to it and what one does to cater for one's health needs at this dying period.

In as much as disease and infirmities are now part of human existence, we want to get over sick days as quickly as possible but if we do not react positively to ill-health, we would stay long on the sickness or die of it. As no one wants to die prematurely, everyone needs to be conscious to one's health and do things positively to come out of the sick state. You should not waste time in taking meaningful decisions that would better your health when you observe a change in your system.


Of course by the definition of health, humans can be sick in four different ways. At each point in time of our existence, we are sick of one or two of the components of health.

Today, I want to streamline this talk to sickness of the body (physical health), disease and infirmities.
So I come down to my topic of discuss, how to you react to sickness.

Obviously, there are many ways people react to sicknesses and this affect the length of time they remain sick. People reaction to sickness varies from, not wanting to see a doctor or nurse, always sleeping, not eating, not taking medications or going to a chemist, taking a herbal medicine to simply believing in God alone to heal them.

If you wish to get out of your sickness on time you have to first of all be alive (conscious) to the signs and symptoms of your prevalent health condition and do the appropriate thing to save yourself. Actually, people are ignorant of the signs and symptoms their common sickness.

The first thing to do when you realize you are sick or falling ill is to visit the hospital to know your health issue . When I say visit the hospital, I am not saying anyhow hospital. I meant a good hospital, government owned or a private hospital where there are qualified medical personnel to take care of you.

Take the the medications you have been given in the hospital. Most persons do not like medications because of their bitter state or odour. You have to overlook that, close your eyes and take your medication seriously in order to get yourself back.

You need food, your system needs food. Loss of appetite comes with ill-health but your body needs food to survive at this time therefore you need to take good foods that should be largely fruits. The body needs food in times of sickness in order for medications to work effectively and efficiently to strengthen the immune system.

You need time to rest from everything. This should include work, excessive church activities and anything that lets you use physical strength.

With all these in place, you are sure to get yourself back as quickly as possible

What you should not do when you are sick.

  • Visit a chemist: Chemists are not doctors. They only prescribe drugs from doctors directives.
  • Shy away from taking medications.
  • Give in to loss of appetite.
  • Stressing the body to meet up with work.

CONCLUSION

As the saying goes, health is wealth. No matter how wealthy you are, once you get sick and don't recover on time, not only your health deteriorates, your wealth, your social, mental and emotional life is affected. It is only healthy individuals that can work, play and enjoy life. You should take conscious and deliberate efforts to put yourself back in good shape in time of ill-health.
