Steeming Community Contest||At My Strongest Moment|The Day I Almost Lost My Dad @sandrakez
Hello Everyone, I'll be sharing one of the scariest moment of my life. And just how strong I was in that moment.
It was a normal Wednesday evening, we had renovation going on in the house. Lots of people working in and out. I was in the kitchen preparing food. I needed to use the blender but the current just kept going low.
My dad had already been diagnosed of low blood pressure. While I was trying to switch off the power, he came out wanting to know why the light was flickering. I told him I was grinding tomatoes, he asked me to stop so he could check out why that's happening.
As he was climbing the stairs, I turned around to go into the kitchen. Just then I heard this "thump" and I saw my mom screaming. My dad had collapsed. My mom ran up the stairs, and checked his pulse(she's in the medical field). She asked me to call someone I started screaming calling for help from the workers around.
They carried him down into the sitting room. I picked up my phone and started calling my Elder sister she's a nurse. She wasn't answering. I rushed into the room got the first aid kit. A house of medical practitioners. I've never been more happy about that until that faithful day.
My mom needed to start an IV line and she just kept trembling. I didn't know how to, so I kept encouraging her to breath. He's been down for almost a minute. Everything was happening so fast. Then she got a vein and started on the IV line. Just then my sister called back, I told her what had happened and she said she was on her way.
I walked back to the room got lots of pillows. We needed to elevate his upper body. Just then he opened his eyes. I've never felt so relieved. I just walked back to the kitchen got water and he drank. And I just sat there, that was when I realized I was bleeding. I don't know at what point I got the injury.
It was a moment I had to be strong. If I wasn't i couldn't have imagined what would have happened to my mom.
He later went to a cardiologist and they suggested that he needed a pacemaker as soon as possible, that his heart was not pumping adequate blood . He got one later that month.
And that he's alive is my testimony and one of the challenging moments of the family.
New year church service after the surgery
That faithful day was challenging I had to be strong, I didn't even have time to panic, cause I needed to save my dad. My story is to encourage anyone who's been in such a scary situation to be strong, that's the moment you need to be more than ever.

Definitely a very scary moment. The fact that you maintained a good level.of emotional composure during the incidence is notjing short of impressive. This is surely a contest i would love to join

Definitely a scary moment.
That must have been super scary, same thing happened this year when my junior brother had a seizure, i have never been so fear-gripped in my life but we didn't have time to think about it. We had to take him to the hospital immediately and he got better afterward
Thank God. It was a really scary experience. I'm glad your brother made it through.
The thought of my sinking in this state scares me. So I can almost picture what it felt like for you. I'm glad he's okay now.
