Steeming Community Contest | "Throwback: Travel Memories" | Nomination from @sampu | My travel memory of Annapurna Base Camp, Nepal | 30% to @steemingcuration
My sincere thanks to @fabio2614 for selecting such an interesting topic. I like to share my memories from our travel to the Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal.
We were a group of 8 people from India visited the Annapurna Base Camp on April 2021. We started our journey on 01 April. We board an overnight train from our hometown Kolkata. We reached Raxaul the next day afternoon.
From Raxaul, we took tanga (horse cart) to cross the India Nepal boarder and reach Birgunj which is in Nepal. From Birgunj we board an overnight bus to Kathmandu. We reached Kathmandu on 03 April early morning and transferred to Airport. It took us a fly of 30 minutes in domestic flight to reach Pokhra from Kathmandu. After obtaining the necessary permit, we hired a car to reach Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the last motorable point for Annapurna Base Camp trek.
The next day, we started our trek from Ghandruk to reach Chomrong. We trekked around 9.8 km today. Gained altitude from 1,940m (Ghandruk) to 2,170m (Chomrong).
On 05 April, the trek was around 10.5 km to reach Dovan. We gained altitude from 2,170m (Chomrong) to 2,579m (Dovan).
Next day, 06 April, we started our trek from Dovan to reach Deurali. The distance is around 8km and gained altitude from 2,579m (Dovan) to 3,699m (Deurali).
On 07 April we started from Deurali to reach the final destination - Annapurna Base Camp. The trek route is via the Macchapuchhare Base Camp. We experienced tremendous snow fall during the trek from Macchapuchhare Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp. It took around 4 hrs to complete this 2km stretch from Macchapuchhare Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp. Overall, we trekked around 7km and gained altitude from 3,699m (Deurali) to 4,130m (Annapurna Base Camp).
The next morning was like a dream come true. The white mountains are getting saffron, then gradually becoming red and finally yellow. The view is worth of all the pain, the effort, all the money.
We started our return on 07 April to reach Himalaya. The next day we reached Jhinu. On 09 April, we returned to Pokhra by evening.
We spend 2 days in Pokhra. We enjoyed the sunset at Fewa lake and did paragliding.
Finally returned to Kolkata on 13 April morning. It is a trip of lifetime.

Annapurna base camp 😍😍
Hello @realworld23, thank you for reading my post. Annapurna Base Camp was in my wishlist since 2012. It is worth the visit.
The same might be the Annapurna Base Camp is also my favorite mountain now, but I am very far from the Annapurna Base Camp, because I am Acehnese
I understand @realworld23. No doubt Nepal is very far from Aceh. Still, I insist that you plan your vacation, save money, and one day you will definitely be there in front of the "Namaste" board.
We live to fulfill the dreams, isn't it?
The best part for ABC trek is that you don't need a guide or carry a tent. Tea-houses are there the entire route.
I hope I can vacation there, and can meet you too🙏🏻
Hello @realworld23, it will be great meeting you. Please add India also in your plan while you come for Nepal.
Ready
wow, so worth a trip! .. but the place looks so chilling cold, how did you stand with it?
