Steem Feedback Contest Entry Post; by @juichi

How good it is for @cryptokannon to create this contest. A lot of brilliant suggestions from ordinary people may come out because of this. I just hope it will be heard in the long run since it is one way to improve the Steemit Community. It will be a bonus if suggestions from ordinary people are heard and be recognized.

1. As a member of the Steem community, What improvement would you like to see on the social platform Steemit.com?

The problem

I have observed that “new invites” just come and go. People in different walks of life, may it be professionals such as lawyers, teachers, engineers, students, and many others show up and verified as the newcomer’s in steemit. But after giving their “ self-introduction post” you can no longer hear from them. I think steemit should give attention to the root cause of it.

My observation to what causes the problem

Only a few are born writers. To expect a quality post right away is choking on part of the newcomers. It is very exhausting to compete for votes when one is not well-equipped on how to fight for it. Therefore, why stay when in the first place you have nothing to show anyway.

My suggestion to solve the problem

Newcomers need training and motivation to write more. What a waste of talent if a new invite just comes to introduce and then vanishes right away. You know, you might be a professional and expert in a certain field but not in writing. To put your ideas into writing may not be your line. But of course, it can be taught and be learned with proper guidance from the expert.
If I were to tell, the community where newcomers opted to join should conduct online training, may it be virtual through discord or meet-ups if possible through a country representative. In this way, new invites may learn and develop his talent in writing and be well informed about how the way steemit works. We need to admit that blogging is not as easy as 1-2-3. The need to be original in content should be inculcated to every writer's mind. Be well informed about proper etiquette in writing and most importantly avoid plagiarism. One should also aim to be competitive to gain followers as well. The struggle to attract curators to vote lies in how good you are at organizing your write-ups. Though you have the idea, it should be well written to relay it to your audiences. This part here needs guidance from the expert. That is why information drive is a must. I believed that someone in the community can take the lead. Even those who have already stayed here for some time still need improvement. And I for one, is no excuse of the many that needed it.

In addition, community leaders should also encourage their members to invest or buy steem, encourage them to power-up, so in the long run their vote will have value and can help the community for more votes. Then reach out to other communities that are still new the guide them to grow.

2. Which other features, tools, improvements, and functionalities do you believe will benefit the user experience and improve the usability of the Steemit.com social platform?

Search engine

It is logging. It would be better if it is displayed the way another website does, like that of a one-stop website. In one click you can see the world. If done that way, steemit will look more advance compared to other social media.

Games

More games to attract more youth users. Instead of playing other games, they will be diverted to steemit, which they will earn while having fun.

Security of account against phishing

Comments that lead you to hackers need to be removed right away. Then block the account of the one doing it. Since a lot of new users are coming, to be the next victim is likely to happen. Then it would be safer if only the account owner can see his wallet. For this will attract thieves. Since it is a personal account, only you should know how much money you have in your wallet.

Automatic upvotes

It needs to be removed. I have seen from other posts, just a mere picture of them hugging their pets, with a very simple caption earn a huge upvotes. While others made an extra effort to their post only to end up with very low upvotes. Automatic upvotes are milking the steemit society and can discourage the other writers to make quality posts.

Deleted post

Some deleted their voted post, then post it to other communities and still earn upvotes. This is another form of cheating. I suggest, once posted it can no longer be deleted but can be edited.

3. If you are the owner or manager of the Steem community, tell us more about what you believe will improve the “Communities” update and its management system?

If I were the owner of the steemit community, I will invite investors to advertise on steemit like other social media apps. The purpose is to earn both cryptocurrencies and fiat. If ever time will come even the value of steem goes down, steemit is still stable because it has another way of generating income.
The advertisement also adds life to the social media platform. It adds colors to the steemit post and lessens boredom for readers.

Reconcile with Hive

I will do some action to reconcile with Hive. Even if it was Steemit who is ahead, still it adds confusion to users because they have almost the same platform. If ever they won't reconcile, find ways to remove the word “hive” in every steemit post to create its own identity. I know it is unlikely to happen, but many are waiting for their unity.

I am not an expert on this, nor I am bragging about myself “knowing it all”, but based on my observation as an ordinary user, these are some of the things that need attention in this platform. If this problem won't be given action, it might lead to another bigger problems and the effort of the steemit owner might be wasted.

I think my suggestion is doable, and I believed this micro suggestion can lead to a macro solution.

Thank you so much @cryptokannon for being a great leader of @steemingcurators and especially to the sponsor, @symboints and @booming, thank you so much for your support!

Thanks sir @juichi it is indeed very informative. How I really wish that there will be trainings on how to improve on my writing skills and how to organize texts, pictures and the likes. True that, it feels discouraging to write something that you've invested in your time and effort, but then no one notices it. Sometimes, you could compare your content with others, but sad to say, sometimes your best just isn't enough. There is so much that I have to learn. I too, am a newcomer who just have the re-introduction and just stopped from there. It is just so overwhelming to write this, to write that. And truly, my knowledge wouldn't suffice if I try to write what's needed to be written.

We share the same sentiments ma'am, we need training as well. Let's just simply enjoy every moment while we are still here.

Very informative! At first I thought its totally against community rule to delete post once posted and post it again to other community. In terms of auto upvotes I guess that just how it works for some but totally agree in terms of further training in terms of writing.

Yeah, true sir..I also think to go for Auto upvotes is a choice since after all we earn through making a post.

For me, to have workshop is badly needed for writers to become more competitive since this is our capital here at steemit.
Thank you for recognizing my entry @cryptokannon 🙏

Wonderful feedback my friend. I think your suggestion are achievable ones if only they can work towards it.

Some deleted their voted post, then post it to other communities and still earn upvotes. This is another form of cheating. I suggest, once posted it can no longer be deleted but can be edited.

This is the major problem in this platform, how can a user have such thinking of cheating, its very bad and should be properly worked on! For the automatic votes you see on the platform, lols, thats another issue that needs attention, i like the fact that you portrayed it on your feed back.

But you know 85% of those votes are coming from steemians that do trade votes. Trading votes means buying from those bigger accounts using either their SP, Liquid STEEM and Sometimes SBD, and didn't see much problem since those steemians are using their own earnings to purchase these votes. You gave a wonderful feed back and i must attest to it. Thanks for being a participant!

I see, this is from traders insight. That is highly commendable. Thank you for that information friend, @bright-obias.
