At my strongest moment by @iddy/30% payout to @steemingcuration
Hello friends
MY BACKGROUND
I am presently from a middle class family,we were not rich from inception, but we loved each other so dearly and remained united. My dad didn't have a formal education,so things were not that smooth. We were just making money that could put food on our table.
MY DREAMS
My dream was to get a formal education for my dad, to free my family of poverty,to give them at least a comfortable life. But the question that ran on my mind was: how would I get this formal education since we're not financially bouyant?
MY MOMENT OF LITTLE HOPE
I had an uncle who was a civil servant,he was a nice person. My uncle visited us one day,and he noticed how serious I was with my education because I actually studied very hard during his stay though that was and still my hobby. He picked interest in me,and asked what I wanted to become in the future. I told my uncle that I wanted to get a formal education, and become an engineer. My uncle promised to sponsor my education,he even had me enroll for senior secondary certificate examination (SSCE), which I wrote and passed. I was happy and hopeful,I thought my dreams were finally going to be actualized. Sadly, that was not the case.
MOMENT I WAS SHATTERED
It was on 12 October,2012. We received a call from my Aunty who happened to be my uncle's wife. We were just so happy to see a call from her,I personally thought she called with respect to my education because the husband asked me to purchase joint admission and matriculation board(JAMB) form that year,so I could start my university education,he even sent me money for it. But it turned out to be something else, she called to give us a sad news, that my uncle died. I cried,I could not console myself,it was as if the world has ended,I felt my only hope of getting a formal education was gone,I was shattered at that moment. I became reckless,I thought my life was over so I started keeping bad companies,I started indulging in heavy drinking of alcohol,I was depressed.
MY REIGNITION MOMENT
My dad had been noticing how I lived lately,he approached me and offered a piece of advice. My dad told me that he was sorry about my uncle, but I should not think my life is over without my uncle, that I should not allow misfortunes to define my life. He further told me that it was the dream of my late uncle, also his dream that I get a formal education. He asked me the person I really wanted to be,and what I think I should do in order to achieve it, these were rhetorical questions. My dad further said to me " it's not over until it's over".this really touched,at that moment,I knew I had to become strong and fight knowing that it's not over until it's over. I was reignited,I wanted to achieve my dreams again, but how would I do this?
STEPS TO ACCOMPLISHMENT OF MY DREAM
I got myself a menial Job and save money. I was not the only one on this Journey,it was a family journey,my parents and sisters would also work and save money, all this was for my education. We would eat two square meals most days so as to have savings. On 2014,the savings was a little okay, so I purchased a joint admission and matriculation board form,I wrote the examination and passed and got admitted into institution of higher learners, and I studied chemical engineering.

While in school,I skept some meals so as to manage a little money I had.

I was focused and hard working,as such I graduated with good grade in 2019,and I am currently serving my country as a national youth service corps member (NYSC). My dream came true,I finally got the formal education I was looking for, but I am still aiming at achieving more. I have learned something from my sad moment.
