Steeming Community Contest | Throwback : "Travel Memories" The journey of three idiots
How are you all? I wish you all good health and enjoy all the time. This is my next post that I post to take part in a contest held by the steeming community, I am very grateful to @fabio2614 who has organized this contest. Although I don't always win in this contest, I am very happy and grateful, with this contest it makes me even more excited to write stories even though my stories are not as good as other people's writings. But I can actually join this community and enter contests like this. Therefore I always expect guidance from all steemit friends. This time I present a very simple and imperfect story, but this is a true story that I want to tell, this story is about my and my friends' journey to an uninhabited island.
This story begins with a trip that we shouldn't have taken because we did it so recklessly and in a hurry, we didn't plan this trip beforehand. Our trip actually does not have a schedule, planning, fundraising or careful planning. This is just a trip based on a strong will, there is no adequate preparation and the cost has been prepared, we call this trip the "trip of the three idiots".
The day before leaving, the three of us gathered in a coffee shop, suddenly a stupid idea came from one of my friends named Iqbal, he took a trip to an island that has not been visited much in one of the remote areas close to the city we settled. The atmosphere was immediately boisterous with various arguments from the three of us about this stupid idea, but in the end the three of us agreed to travel to the island.
Three hours before leaving we gathered again to get ready to leave for the island without inhabitants, the three of us only brought a few tools such as flashlights, snacks, drinks, mineral water, matches, knives and gloves for prayer. Our trip this time took approximately 3 hours of travel, 2 hours to cross the island by boat and 1 hour to explore the island. From the city where we live, the distance to the crossing is only 1 hour by motorbike, and we arrive at a small dock to cross to the island.
We rented a small boat provided by the local community to cross to the island, the boat capacity only fits 4 people. With hearts filled with curiosity we set out on the trip, the three of us had never visited the island at all. Now the three of us are in the middle of the ocean in an engine boat with a capacity of 4 people, we don't feel afraid or worried about our journey, only curiosity fills our minds.
Feet stepped on the beach that was wet with clear sea water, now we have arrived on the island without inhabitants, the atmosphere is very cool and peaceful with the chirping of small birds clearly heard around the island. The boat that we were riding on we tied well to a large rock on the shore, we began to step into the island, only shady and tall trees filled the island, there was not a single house or hut to stay, only big rocks arranged along the island.
We have passed an hour on foot to enter the island, we plan to take a short break while having lunch. Now at 3 pm the sun is very bright and the wind is blowing in the shady leaves, we rest under a big tree while eating the snacks we have provided. After resting a few hours we rushed to build a shelter tonight, we tried to make a shelter out of leaves and branches. For the base we use big leaves and for the roof we use coconut leaves, it only takes a few tens of minutes to prepare the shelter.
Finally night has come and all three of us feel hungry but the food we brought was only light, we needed other food to fill our stomachs tonight. With minimal hunting skills, we tried to find fish and crabs on the shores, with flashlights we hunted in the shadows of the night, but it was a full moon in the sky so we had no trouble at the beach.
We roasted crabs and fish as a meal that night, the three of us enjoyed the food provided by nature accompanied by cool air, beautiful full moon rays, the sounds of nocturnal animals seemed to enliven the situation. It feels like the burden of life that we have been carrying has disappeared temporarily, sometimes it takes something crazy to be happy, that's what we thought. It was getting late at night, the bonfire had not been extinguished, we were still engrossed in talking under the beautiful full moon, our stomachs were filled and the atmosphere was still supportive for us to enjoy.
Dawn arrived, I opened my eyes and looked around it was still a little dark but the rising light had penetrated the trees, I immediately did it to do the Fajr prayer and wake up the other friends who were sleeping. After the dawn prayer, the three of us traveled around the island, the sun rose clearly from the beach and the coolness of our bodies, we were made comfortable and fascinated by the beauty of the island, this was truly the most beautiful moment that the three of us passed. We never thought that our foolish and unplanned trip would be the single best moment of our lives.
After we finished exploring the island we rushed to return to the boat and returned home, for this time we feel satisfied and happy with our trip, maybe in the future we may not necessarily be able to repeat and re-carve a more beautiful moment than today. We boarded the boat and returned home, it took another 3 hours to get home, but the heart was still reluctant to leave the island, the 24 hours we passed were the best and most beautiful 24 hours we got from nature.
We took this trip in 2010, to be precise in August and our trip is a moment to celebrate the anniversary of Indonesia's independence, we took the time to raise the national flag on the beach and stick it on a big rock. However, we regret a little that we did not bring a digital camera or other portrait tools to capture the moment, only memories and brain memories that store the moments and memories of our trip, that trip we call a stupid trip made by three idiots.
This is a short story about a trip that I remember so far and I will make one of the best memories of my life. I hope you all enjoy and like it.
