Hey everyone...

I'm not a hair care giver neither do I keep hairs. To participate in this contest, I did findings from my lady friend (Chube Cloudette) who is a haircare giver and I also read articles on Google and Facebook. And I also apply inspiration gotten from observing my mom and sisters care for their hair. Below are my findings. Enjoy...

HAIR CARE TIPS

Her typical wash day happens between 2-3 weeks of her last wash day, sometimes it could be earlier or later! It depends on a lot of some factors.

Steps to a wash day....

  1. PRE-POO
I don't skip this step, usually done with oils! She don't used water based product so as to reduce the chances of hydral fatigue. Sometimes she PRE-POO overnight. This is simply applying oil on her hair and covering it overnight.

  2. CLEANSING
She uses liquid black African soap(dudu ozun) to cleanse her hair, this is what she has been using for a very long time and it works perfectly for her.

  3. DEEP CONDITION
She mostly deep condition her hair with DIY recipes, recently she has been using oat meal deep conditioner and she finger detangle her hair here. We'll discus types of DIY deep conditioner later.

  4. PROTECTIVE STYLE
She usually put her hair back in twist or use thread to plait it after applying her hair oil.

MOISTURISE

When you hear moisturize please think of WATER or any mixture that has a higher percentage of water, this could be with aloe vera gel because it is soluble in water.

Oil... Do not moisturise your hair with oil, it seals in moisture.

Here is why you should moisturise!
Now, Imagine a dry and a fresh stick, which do you think breaks easily? If you guessed the dry stick then you are right. Same thing applies to your hair, dry hair breaks and you wonder why you are not retaining length.

HAIR PREVENTIVE STYLING

Also call hair protective styling can easily turn into a destructive style if somethings are not taken into consideration.
As noted on Facebook by hair care expert
When it comes to protective styling, it’s not just about putting your hair in braids or using extensions, you can be doing all of that and not protect your hair!
These are the things she observed that should be lookout for when installing a protective styling;

  • "tightness is a not for me! if I can feel any form of pain it’s not a good sign, it puts too much pressure on your root and forcefully shed your hair! Or you’ll notice some form of skin irritation on your scalp.
  • weight! I shouldn’t feel like I am carrying the problems of the world on my head just because I am using extensions, the density and texture of your hair should be a major determinant on how much extension you use."
  • Useful Tips on Protective Styling

    • Always style your hair starting from your ends especially for twist, do not be in a rush and then you start unraveling from the middle, you could get your ends tied up and it can cause you to loose more hair than you bargained for.

    • Personally, spritz water on your hair then apply oil before you begin to unravel, some people apply leave-in conditioner, the point is your hair has to be moisturised.

    • Work in sections, twist up each section when you are done with take down.
