Steem Feedback Contest Entry Post; @drqamu.
This is my submission for contest organised by steemingcurators which is about steem feedback. It is a unique and a progressive initiative by @steemingcurators to stimulate gray matter of multiple users So as to share their feedbacks for betterment of platform. It is not necessary that these feedbacks may be accepted or some of them may be accepted but one thing is certain that it will give platform administrators an overview about fields where there is scope for some improvement as per user experience. Let's begin;
As a member of the Steem community, What improvement would you like to see on the social platform Steemit.com?
As a member of this platform, the improvements that I would like to see on steemit.com will be based on my personal experience.
I believe some more details should be available about communities. jOIN and POST does not suffice. Scope for adding , CONTACT COMMUNITY MANAGERS (Say) , may be looked into so as to facilitate better communication in native languages of some regional communities as all users are not good at interacting in english (say) .

Beginner's Guide.
Starting from begining, that is, once we log in, we fall in no man's land. Here i think there is scope for improvement in a stepwise manner.
Step 1: Let platform help newbie set their profile like personnel info, profile photo , background photo, website etc like other social media sites. Also help in understanding the existing sections under preferences like NSFW, blog & comment post rewards etc. These terminologies must be cclear to a user before he or she may start posting content on the platform.
Step 2 : Once user has gone through step 1 , he should be taught basic content etiquette that platform expect users to abide by. This may include, short introduction to content plagiarism, its consequences on board and real life hazards.
Step 3: Helping users understand markdown and create a demo post abiding by some basic and minimum required markdown styles.
I believe all this process will create an interactive user interface giving a good impression of steemit to user and would also be beneficial for users and they would be allowed to enter with some basic knowledge.
Although
some of these things are being taken care of by newcomers community, but we can't deny the fact that not all users follow the achievement programme of newcomers community. So if basic things are taken into consideration at the beginning, advanced tasks can be gradually learnt .
Which other features, tools, improvements, and functionalities do you believe will benefit the user experience and improve the usability of the Steemit.com social platform?
Strategy to retain new users.
As for my experience is considered, i have recruited about about 6 to 8 users in last six months and as for i can check, only one of them is active and he too posts once a week . So one of the biggest problem is to retain users. The reason for dormancy of the new users is poor rewards on their posts. It may probably be also due to their higher expectations from the platform.
I am providing just one strategy to tackle this problem but i don't know whether it will work or not. The strategy goes like, before users start publishing any content of their interest, on their introductory post, let some community account set a list of homework tasks for them like the topics covered in steemit FAQ's and than keep on rewarding them (say 1$ per post) . This strategy may help users know more and more about platform and also get rewarded for the same and thereby facilitate retaining users. Thereafter, one can continue their posts on their areas of interest or expertise.
Inbuilt spell checker.
While writing a good length post, typos are bound to happen. And while proof reading the content, we are able to spot most of the mistakes but not all. So it would bring a great joy and would save time too for content creators as they would be able to spot typos out here and therefore need not look for other tools to do so
Help desk.
Some means of communication if established like live chat, email etc , to help users clear their doubts may make steemit more user friendly. To avoid jargon, messages with templates for heading may automatically be created, which user will have to select at the time of seeking help on help desk.
Steemit internal market
Steemit internal Market can be upgraded to allow TRX exchange to Steem/SBD and vice versa. With the integration of TRX and Steem, steemit has gone to new level. So internal market upgradation will be one more step towards integration consolidation.
Content checker.
Originality of the content lies at the heart of steemit but still the tons of material posted on this platform is plagiarised. Need of hour is to have functional bots or curators to check plagiarism so as to retain the repo of the platform and avoid any untoward occurance. I came to know that previously, steemcleaners account was doing a fabulous job in this regard. Hope something of that potential is created again.
The above mentioned features are those which i felt need of from time to time. In addition, some excellent features have been mentioned by many other users which if deemed fit by steemit team would definitely add value to the platform.
If you are the owner or manager of a Steem community, tell us more about what you believe will improve the "Communities" update and its management system.
Although i am not owner of any community but i believe , if communities are provided more steem power they can engage more and more users.
Also communities that support diverse content like, Best of india etc should recruit more number ot curators from diverse fields so that they are able to judge the quality of content pertaining to their fields and give proportionate support to the quality content creators so as to facilitate their recognition by community and thereby value their efforts and time.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your entry into this contest.
I like the basic suggestions you layout in this post. Maybe we need a post that basically sums up everything for newcomers that might not want to go through the achievement program that we have prepared for them, so they still get the gist of how steemit works through this basic post. I think this will be another task to do for me or steem greeters project..
Lack of reward always be a factor of decrease retention. Only those who persevere and have strong will stick through..

I don't think so. A post which sums up everything will further decrease chances of retention because at least in early phase there is something (achievement tasks) which if done properly guarantees upvote. Instead need is to engage users in more tasks, if possible.
