My Letter to Steemit!
Dear Steemit,
We've known each other for a long time now, cumulatively 4 years and I have no regrets. It's been all gain for me. I label our relationship as symbiosis commentalism. You've got no idea how many times you've saved me especially during my University days when I'd run out of cash and my parent were not showing any positive signs. One of the cash-out I did was used to sponsor a friend's school project. He wasn't financially capable, but I could come to his aid all thanks to you.
Dear Steemit, my writing skills had greatly improved. On this platform, I learnt the concept of plagiarism and how to create quality contents that can be consumed. With the presence of moderators, curators and bots flying around, I gradually acquired the necessary art. My style of writing developed and I learnt to appreciate other styles and delivery too.
Dear Steemit, over the time spent writing articles, reading those written by others and appreciating their creativity, I've acquired so much knowledge. I got to see professionals in their field produce things and I learnt the rules that guides creativity in their world. I learnt the concepts behind what they do. I learnt a lot of DYIs, and also about cryptocurrencys, thanks to communities like Steemit Academy. I learnt practical things I could use.
Dear Steemit, I appreciate the times I've spent on this platform because I have met a lot of wonderful people from my Country Nigeria and other countries like the Philippines, Venezuela and Indonesia. I've rubbed minds with them, they've learnt so much from me, and so have I from them.
Dear Steemit, as much as I have a lot of gratitude towards you and no regrets whatsoever, sometimes I feel sad about how things are run here. Many good contents go illy rewarded while people with high Steem power, close contacts and high reputation get weighty votes for a job with minimal effort towards producing it. Sometimes, you see these posts as simple poems, badly formatted with sometimes, contradicting pictures. The minnows get no visibility, and you see the big guys sometimes oppressing them.
Dear Steemit, the big and experienced guys here ought to put the newbies through on how to produce good contents. They should form the habit of commenting on newbies post and pointing out what needs improvements. Not in a destructive manner but constructively.
Dear Steemit, I appreciate your presence in my life and community. With you, youths like me are not tempted to be involved in illegal works to make ends meet. Meeting you gave me the step I needed to venture and learn about cryptocurrencies. I've introduced you to a couple of friends and they all have good reports too. I'm glad to have you. I know you'd continue to make me proud.
Sincerely,
@damzxyno.
