My most unforgettable travel memories

When growing up as a kid and till now i have traveled alot and have so many experiences during my travels but i will be sharing with everyone one of the most unforgettable travel i went through and i think its been very long now.

When i was still a kid of 13years old by then,i was a member of the Boys Brigade(BB) back then in our church because i'm a Baptist Christian. So with that we usally had so many youth and BB campaigns that we use to travel to.

The one special travel i can never forget is the one we had to travel to ilak-oku for a youth retreat that was to last from the 27-30th of December 2014

Where i fellowship, they always organised this retreat every year so i was so fortunate to go only That year and what i experience was really good as i won't hesitate to share it here though j never had a phone by then to be taking pictures.

That day together with my two brothers and my sister prepared our selfs as we took along one metras, two pillows and one bed sheet and money so that we could be using it to purchase food when ever we are hungry then met up with the other youths in church and we began our journey to the retreat center just above the lake of oku.

We were so happy to go there since it was our first time going there. We finally arrived there after taking about 10 hours due to extreme bad roads that i had not experience before. As we arrived there, a very cold breeze stroke my ears and i experience a total change of climate as the place was extremely cold because of the air that is coming out of the lake and most of all its located slidely untop of a hill.

So with that,i immediately put on my thick pullover and it was not still enough to withstand the cold 🤒 since it was already getting dark in the evening. Thank God some other youths had already gone ahead,so they had arranged fire 🔥 and so many places and were warming it so ss to drive the cold. I immediately went and joined them together with my brothers and we warmed the fire.

We had our fisrt lesson of the retreat and it was now time to sleep, it was another challenge because unfortunately, there were no beds for us to sleep since the beds were not much and the other youths had already occupied then. We had no choice than to sleep on the floor and the one metras we took was not even enough for the 4 of us so mosquitoes delt with us that night.

Breaking morning, we had to stroll down to the lake and see it with our two eyes. To be honest, it was really a great experience of seeing the lake with my two naked eyes 👀 and i was extremely happy about it.

Our retreat went successfully for three days so we had to travel that 30th very early in the morning, we got up at about 3:30am breaking morning and discovered we never had enough transport to take us back home so we had no choice than to join some other youths that were to trekked on foot from there to Belo in the Boyo division which is extremely far.

So we prepared our belongins and commerced with our journey, thank God one of the youths that was leading us on the journey knew shortcuts as he took us through a very thick forest that breaking morning at about 3:30am,i experienced certain abnormal crashes on my body anytime my hands or feets accidentally touches some species of grasses on our way out of the forest. So the friend that was besides me showed me the type of grass and told me to be careful not to be touching it again.

We walk on feet from 3:30am till about 8am in the morning to where we could now pay a 🚌 bus to take us home . before reaching the bus station so that it could take us home, we were extremely exhausted and my legs 🦵 couldn't move any longer again.

omg, you walked for 4 hours and 30 mins.... any way at your age, 13, you were still at the height of strength and endurance. I can imagine you walking with friends though that far, still with so much fun and it's not too tiring I guess🙂
