The practice of divorce before Islam.

Divorce is not just a system introduced by Islam. Divorce was widely practiced all over the world before Islam. Ridu was an exception in the case of a nation. When the husband was angry with his wife - for any good reason or inconsistent, he would throw her out of the house. The wife could not say or do anything in her defense. It would not have been possible for her to get any exchange from her husband. No other rights were recognized. In the age of Greek fame and dominance, when the victory flag of their civilization was flying low, the practice of divorce was effective in their society without any conditions or restrictions. In Roman society, divorce was considered as soon as the marriage took place. Even if the husband and wife imposed the condition of divorce, the judge would have ruled that the marriage should be annulled.

According to the ancient Roman tribes, divorce was forbidden in religious marriage. But the husband had unlimited authority over his wife. In some cases, even killing his wife would have been legal for him. Later, in their religion, divorce was declared as valid as civil law.

Divorce in Judaism

In Judaism, attempts are made to improve the status of wives, but by declaring divorce valid, its legitimacy is greatly expanded. After the wife's guilt was proved, the husband would be forced to divorce religiously. Even if her husband forgave her sins, it would be her duty to divorce him. Divorce was considered necessary in the eyes of the law if no child was born in the womb of the wife even after ten years had elapsed.

Divorce in Christianity

Christianity is totally opposed to divorce. On the one hand, it opposes Judaism. The Injil has declared the practice of divorce in the name of Hazrat Isa completely haram. In addition, the divorcee has also forbidden the marriage of the man and the divorced wife. The Gospel of Matthew says.

And it was said that whoever divorces his wife, let her give him a letter of divorce. But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away committeth adultery.

Whoever divorces his wife and marries me commits adultery against her, and whoever divorces his husband and marries another commits adultery.

This statement is automatically true and correct. But in the case of declaring divorce as haraam, the application of this statement is very surprising. The simple meaning of marriage between husband and wife from Allah is that He has allowed marriage. If you allow marriage to be divorced, then it must be considered that this separation is also from Allah - although the act of separation has been done by man. From this it is clear that God is not the one who separates the one whom God has united.
