The sale of goods in which there is a risk of anonymity or deception or a dispute between one party over the other causing harm to the other party is prohibited under the 'Cause of Cause' policy. For example, selling things on the surface of a male camel or a baby in a camel's womb, or buying and selling flying birds or fish in the water or similar unknown products.

In the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) the crops of the field or the fruits of the garden were sold before they were ripe. After being sold, many times the fruit would be destroyed due to natural causes, the crop would be destroyed, resulting in quarrels between the buyer and the seller. The seller would say, "I survived." Buyers are likely to call everyone who looks appropriate, if there are only a few. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explicitly forbade the sale of fruits before ripening. However, it may be permissible to cut the fruit immediately. It is also forbidden to sell the grains before they are white and free from danger.

It is not just a matter of buying and selling unknown products. In some cases, much of the product remains in the dark. For example, if one buys a pucca house, the condition of its foundation and walls remains invisible to the buyer. It is not possible for him to know anything about it. But buyers are likely to call everyone who looks appropriate, if there are only a few. Therefore, things which are completely unknown, which may cause quarrels with one another, or which allow people to consume goods in a void manner, are forbidden.

If a thing is a little unknown, and there is a tradition of buying and selling of this partially unknown thing, then its buying and selling, such as radish, carrot, onion, etc., is the sale of crows and watermelon fields. According to Imam Malik, it is permissible out of necessity. Because the field of ignorance is not very wide, very simple and insignificant.

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah says that Imam Malik's policy regarding buying and selling is better than the policy of others because his policy is based on the opinion of Sayyid Ibn Musayyib. And he is considered as a great jurist in matters of buying and selling.
