Caliph or representative.

Allah Almighty wanted to create a new creature that would be His caliph or representative on earth. The creation of Adam (a) is the realization of that will of God.

The caliph is said to be the one who acknowledges the subordination of the owner who exercises the power and authority given by the owner. The caliph can never be the owner. His duty is to exercise power and authority as per the wishes of the owner.

A new creation in the form of Khalifah will be sent to the earth. They say you will create a creature that will cause disaster and bloodshed?

The angels understood that this new creature would be given power and authority. However, they did not understand that if Almighty Allah, the Originator of the universe, had established order in the universe, how could it not be disturbed if any of His creatures were established on the earth? The angels also say, "We are reciting your praises and praising your holiness."

God did not give the angels any authority. They have no will or power to disobey any command of Allah. They have been assigned to different jobs in different departments of the world. They are doing the work assigned to them properly. The second problem in their minds was whether God was creating new things out of dissatisfaction with their work.

In order to overcome this problem, God said, "Surely you do not know what I know." .The decision was made to create Adam (a) for a different purpose, not for the purpose for which the angels were created. If a creature is given power and authority, how can it not be disturbed in the place where it will be employed?

God called the angels to name the different objects in the universe. The angels frankly admit that they know nothing beyond what they have been given. Then Allah said to Adam (pbuh), “Tell them the names of these things.

Adam (a) named all the objects. Through this exercise, Allah Almighty made it clear that those to whom He is giving power and authority are being given vast knowledge at once. The danger of giving him power and authority is only one aspect of the real thing. There is also a potential aspect of welfare. This time God commanded the angels to bow down to Adam.
