Monday mission entry: a day in the life of a simple food preparation

In a simple place like our town used to have a simple food preparation. By using simple viand food like fish there's no need for many varieties to make a food delicious. There's no need to spend much money in eating a simple food but delicious. The good thing about living in a eco village or in the province is that you don't to buy vegetables and etc.

Last night I bought of 1kg fish worth of 150 PHP or 3 USD. I want to cook it with a soup on it. We used to call it "tinuwang isda" (bisayan word) or fish with soup in translation. The basic food materials in cooking this kind of food to make it more delicious are the following: Malunggay leaves, alugbati leaves, onion, salt, lemon grass.

I got this Malunggay leaves from the certain area where the citizens in our place can plant vegetables here. Without any concent I got Malunggay leaves because everyone are allowed to get.

I got alugbati leaves, this image above from our back yard. We planted this kind of leaves vegetable because my mother like it. She said it's helping here to waste easily. This leaves has an sticky but sliding effect in the soup. Also it provides good smell.

I got lemon grass because it will make the soup smells good and also it helps to make the smells of the fish faded. I got this lemon grass from our neighbours. I asked my neighbour of course just to let them know. Well, if you're in the city you can't ask this but you need to buy it.

After getting vegetable leaves I bought onion from the store. This kind of spicy is hard to grow in our place, so we can only have this one by buying it. The leaves and the spicy were ready so I need to clean the fish.

I cleaned this kind of fish, the scales of this fish was hard to remove. We called it "isdas bato"(bisayan word) or fish from the stone or se just called it that way because we can find this one in a lower part of the sea level.

After cleaning the fish, removing it's scales and what's inside of it. I divided it into small pieces so that all of us can eat. Well, for us it's kind of expensive so we can buy small amount but at least all of us can eat.

We're using firewood in cooking our food. We think cooking in firewood gives the food delicious taste. It's just our imagination maybe but that's what I think. In cooking gas stove it's like forcing the food cook's immediately. Well I don't know in your opinion about this.

So, all of it were being prepared. That's why I put the pot into the fire with water on it. Then as the first thing to do is to put lemon grass and onion in the water until it boils.

now that's how our simple food preparation. It doesn't need a lot of money and doesn't need a lot of time.
