Introduction

Wireless network as the name suggest, is any computer network that connects two or more people/devices without any wired connection, in wireless networks, communications are connected by waves. The emergence of wireless network have brought convenience and collaboration in the telecommunication industry. Many people assume Wi-Fi as the only wireless connection, but the fact is that, wireless networks are in many forms, 5G, LTE, Bluetooth, GSM, WiMAX are all forms of wireless networks. Individuals, households, and even small and bigger organizations can install a wireless network like Wi-Fi for domestic or commercial usage. ALOHAnet was the first professional wireless network and it and was developed in 1969 at an institution called The University of Hawaii. The operations of the ALOHAnet started in 1971. WaveLAN too is an early wireless network and it was developed 1986. An underlying technology that brought about the idea of wireless networks is a particular wireless technology called MOFET(the metal–oxide–silicon transistor), it is through this technology that most of the important aspects of wireless networks such as routers, transceivers, telecommunication circuits etc. are built from.

Types Of Wireless networks

Wireless Networks are categorized into different types and it mainly depends on the area in which they are capable of covering, below are some of the main types of Wireless networks.

Local-Area Networl (LAN)

The LAN exists at a solitary site, for example, a place of business. It tends to be utilized to connect tools , like PCs, printers, and storage gadgets. LANs comprise of some components such as switches, access points, routers, firewalls, and Ethernet cables to integrate them together. A widely known wireless LAN is WiFi.

Personal-Area Network (PAN)

PAN comprises of an organization concentrated around the devices of a solitary individual in a solitary area. A PAN could have PCs, telephones, computer game control center, or other fringe gadgets. They are normal inside homes and little places of business. A widely knowm PAN is Blutooth.

Metropolitant Area Network (MAN)

MAN is a PC network that ranges across a city, little geological region, or business or school grounds. One element that separates a MAN from a LAN is its size. A LAN normally comprises of a lone structure or region. A MAN can cover a few square miles, contingent upon the requirements of the association.
Big organizations, for instance, may utilize a MAN on the off chance that they have an open grounds and need to oversee key segments, like HVAC and electrical frameworks.

Wide-Area Network (WAN)

WAN covers an exceptionally larger region, similar to a whole city, state, or country. The web for istance, is a WAN. Like the web, a WAN can contain more modest organizations, including LANs or MANs. Cell administrations are the most generally known remote WANs##

Advantages of Wireless networks

  1. Simple to Set Up : It is clearly no compelling reason to fix wires and users can move around inside the signal. Cell phones, for example, telephones and iPads can likewise be effortlessly set up to associate with the network.
  2. Limitless Users : Wired switches will ordinarily accompany three or four connection ports and require a switch for extra development. With a wireless network, you can add more users without the need to change equipment, however transfer speed and speed might turn into an issue in case there are an excessive number of clients.
  3. Comfort, and Efficiency :On the off chance that you need versatility around the working environment, a wireless network assist you with moving around without agonizing over passages or wires.
  4. Cost: The expenses related with setting up a wireless won't really be restrictive. It might even be less expensive to introduce a wireless in certain circumstances

Disadvantages 0f Wireless Networks

  1. Less Security : Wireless networks are vulnerable against malicious attacks and data transfer capacity burglary when contrasted with wired networks. As it is extremely simple to interface devices to a wireless network, a few organizations may not know that workers are connected to wireless devices.
  2. Signal Stability : Users of the wireless network can encounter dark spots inside the inclusion range where the signal have issues passing through certain structure materials, or then again if the area has critical radio obstruction. Clients might have to do some testing to get ideal sign steadiness.
  3. Less Speed : The normal speed will in general be more slow than an Ethernet connection, an issue to be thought of on the off chance that you or your connection will depend exclusively on wireless network.

Conclusion

The emergence of wireless network has enhanced efficiency and convenience in networking devices together, Wi-Fi, which is the most widely known wireless network is being used by major institutions and governments to connect individuals and devices together, It has also assisted educational institutions like colleges to offer internet connection to their students for their academic researches through the use of Wi-Fi . Li-Fi is another emerging wireless network and it uses light waves, this will help solve the problem of speed in Wi-Fi which uses conventional waves. The future of wireless networks is really interesting to read about as there are still yet to be known forms of Wireless networks in the near future.
