DISCUSS ABOUT WIRELESS NETWORK

in Zero to Infinity3 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone, I am very happy for this contest and I am very willing to participate in it.

INTRODUCTION

As the name really depicts, Wireless Network is a computer network that uses wireless data connection between two or more nodes.

The process by which homes, telecommunication networks, businesses, make network installations, avoid expensive methods of putting cables into a building, or as a connection between computers. Administrative telecommunications networks are usually instituted and applied using radio communication. This application occurs at the physical layer of the OSI model network structure.
Some common examples of wireless network include; mobile networks, wireless sensor networks, terrestrial microwave networks, wireless area networks (WLAN), and satellite communication networks.

HISTORY

The history of wireless network can be traced to the year 1969, when the first wireless network was developed under the brand ALOHAnet, at the University of Hawaii, which became accessible in June 1971. The earliest marketable wireless network was the WaveLAN product group, which was developed by NRC in 1986.
Some other wireless network that were developed include;

  • Ethernet802.3, in 1973
  • 2G cell phone network in 1991
  • 802.11 "Wi-Fi", in June 1997
  • 803.11 VolP integration, in 1999
Most of the important components of wireless network are developed from MOSFETs (MOS transistor), including base station modules, telecommunication circuits, radio frequency circuits, routers, radio frequency power amplifiers, mobile transceivers, and radio transceivers, in networks such as 2G, 3G, and 4G.

TYPES OF WIRELESS NETWORKS

Wireless Personal Networks (WPAN) :

These wireless Networks link devices within a relatively small area, that is usually within a person's access. Examples of WPAN are Bluetooth radio and invisible infrared light, which gives an interconnection from a headset to a laptop. There have been the development of Wi-Fi PANs which have been integrated into a variety of consumer electronic devices.

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN):

These type of wireless network connect two or more devices within a short distance coverage using a wireless distribution method, often making connection through an Access point for internet access. Spread-spectrum usage sometimes allow users to move around within a local area, and yet remain connected to the network. This network is usually used in urban areas to give connection between two or more buildings without mounting a wired link.

Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN)

This network can literally be termed as "A group of Local Area Networks". It is responsible for connecting several wireless LANs. A type of Wireless Metropolitan Area Networt is WiMAX which is described by the IEEE 802.16 Standard.

Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN):

This is a wireless network that most of the time cover large areas, such as between nearby towns and cities, or suburb. This type of network can be used to link branch business offices. The wireless connection between access points are generally point to point microwave links using parabolical dishes on the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz band, instead of omnidirectional antennas, used with lesser networks.

Cellular Network

Cellular network, also known as mobile network is a radio network allotted over land areas known as cells, each cared by at least a singly fixed location transceiver, also known as a cell size or base station. The cells in this network can indicatively be used to differentiate set of radio frequencies from all nearby cells to prevent any interference. When they merge together, they provide radio connectivity over a large geographical area.
Even though these were initially planned for cell phones, cellular network ordinarily carry data in extra to telephone conversations; Global System Mobile (GSM), Personal Communications Service (PCS), and D-AMPS.
Some other types cellular network are, Global Area Network (GAN), which is meant for aiding mobile across an arbitrary number of wireless LANs, etc. Another type is Space Network, which is used for attraction between spacecraft. A typical example of this type of network is the NASA's Space Network.

USES OF WIRELESS NETWORK

  • Cellular phones which are wireless allow easy communication between person's.
  • The Emergency Services such as the Fire Service, the Police Service, etc, use wireless network to communicate to find locations.
  • Individuals or business companies are able to send and receive data between each other, irrespective of the distance.
  • Radio Satellites are used by intercontinental network systems to send and receive data across the whole world.

CHALLENGES WITH WIRELESS NETWORK

  • Compared to wired networks, wireless networks are often exposed to electromagnetic interference. This can be as a result of other networks or equipment that produce radio waves that are within, or near to the radio bands and used for communication. This action of interference can reduce the signal or bring about system failure.
  • There is absorption of electromagnetic waves, avoiding it from getting to the receiver.
  • There may occur reflection, which makes the signal to eliminate each other at certain parts.

CONCLUSION

I suggest for the IT technicians to improve on this wireless network to make it as faster and better than this.
Thank you🙏🙏🏼
