INTRODUCTION

Greetings to all members of Zero-To-Infinity community. Good day to you all. I hope we are all doing great. Today I am here with a post about Climate Changes, it’s causes, effects and solutions.

Everything day we see evidence of climate change and this tell us it is real. These are not new changes we see since there were already there but off late we have realized they are having great effects on us, wildlife and places which are around us. To get to know more about climate change and why it really matters, then please keep reading this content I am sharing to know more about causes and effects of climate change and also practical solutions we can adopt to reduce or stop it.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is defined as the long term shift in temperatures and weather patterns of a particular environment. These long term shifts patterns are mostly natural and also human activities have also been the another main driver of climate change, mostly due to the burning of fossil fuels which produces and releases a lot of heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere.

SOME CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Most experiences we face by climate change are mainly caused by our own activities. Below are some activity that causes or increase the rate of climate changes around us.

  • Agriculture

Agriculture plays a very major role on the impact of climate change around us. Through agriculture, deforestation is been caused to secure a lands for the farming of crops or livestocks and also for the transportation of these items. Because of the above mentioned, it is highly responsible for the increment of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions.
But also, deforestation helps reduce the rate of CO2 released by plants in the atmosphere.

  • Deforestation

Climate and deforestation always goes hand in hand with each other since climate change does not only increases deforestation throughout wildfires and other bad weather conditions, but deforestation as it stands is a very major contributor to global warming to the world.
As we all know deforestation is the second leading in contributor to global greenhouse gasses and due to that, measures are been put in place by people and organizations to fight hard against climate change point to help reduce deforestation which will help slow or prevent climate change.

  • Human Activity

Human activities also plays a vital role in the increment of climate change. Activities like the burning of fossil fuels for electricity and heat or transport tend to increase the rate of climate change. Also transportation such as the use of cars, trucks, ships and trains releases the largest amount of CO2 into the air causing global warming and a higher increase in climate change.

EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change has the below effect on us in the environment;

  • Extreme Weather

One of the major effect we all experience or notice about climate change is the weather and an average person knows. Extreme weathers that are influenced by climate change are: heatwaves, wildfires, flooding, heavier droughts e.t.c. These are the commonly noticeable extreme weathers.

  • Health

Climate change has had impact on peoples health and this highly depends on where you find yourself/location and also your age. Many peoples health has been affected by climate change.
Heat-related illness, asthma and cardiovascular disease from air pollution, diseases from poor water quality, water and food supply insecurities are climate change help risk an individual can face.

  • Long Term Impact of Climate Change

Climate change might come with a long term impact that is devastating to the planet and mankind and every living thing on it. If we humans continue with the harmful activities on cause in the planet, then there will be a continuous increment of effects on our everyday life.

From the effects that comes with climate change, females/ women are there ones that suffer most during those times. During extreme weathers such as drought, women, most especially in our rural areas walk for long miles just to get water for the whole family to use and even this water collected is not good enough or in good condition for consumption thereby putting their lives in danger.

SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE

As climate change is rapidly inncreasing, some actions must/ can be employed to help reduce the rate of climate change where we won’t be faced the worst consequences. Some of the ways to which we can adapt to battle climate change are below;

  • Reduce food waste

To reduce the rate of climate change, we should learn to reduce the way we waste food every day and always prepared meals in the capacity we can consume. Even our various and common religions frown against food wastage.

In the Holy Bible, it is been said that;

And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.”
Reference: John 6:13 ESV

And also in the Holy Quran it is said:

‎”O children of Adam! Attend to your embellishments at every time of prayer. and eat and drink and be not extravagant. surely He does not love the extravagant.”
Reference: Surah al-A’araaf 7:31.

When we reduce the rate at which we waste food, the rate of poverty that is caused by climate change can be reduced to a minimum since there will be abundant of food.

  • Recycle

Recycling of waste products such as plastic must be encouraged as it helps prevent or reduce climate change in our environments. You might be thinking how that can made be possible. Waste products such as plastic when are been burnt releases a large amount of gases into the atmosphere but when they are been recycled, the release of those gases is prevented. Also, plastics can be replaced with paper can also play a vital role in the system.

  • Stop the usage of fossil fuels

Renewable source of energy should be adapted in our environment and the usage of fossil fuel discouraged since fossil fuel releases a large amount of gases in the air thereby increasing the rate of climate change.

  • Stop deforestation

Bad felling of trees in the forest when stopped can help reduce the rate of climate change around us. I know most of us in the rural areas, most especially our mothers and sisters use firewood as a means to prepare their dishes and even to build their homes since woods are used as building materials and for roofing their homes. My suggestion is when an individual cuts down a down, he should plant two trees in replace of the one cut down. All I am trying to say is afforestation should be encouraged and deforestation discouraged.

CONCLUSION

Knowing what climate change is, it’s causes and effects, when the above solutions are welcomed and put into maximum practice, the rate at which climate change increases can be reduced to minimum and also the rate at which our parents at the rural areas most especially our sisters and mothers are faced by dangers of drought to get water for the family can be reduced or eliminated. Thank you very much for your time and I hope you enjoyed my write up.
