Discoveries That Have Changed the World (2nd part)

in Zero to Infinity2 years ago

In my previous post, I talked about discoveries that have changed the world. Today I am writing the 2nd part of this post. hope you will enjoy it.

Means of Communication

The primary inventions of communication include the telegraph, the telephone, the radio, and television. Since the introduction of the telegraph by Samuel Morse in 1836, there has been a dramatic shift in communication. Then, with the introduction of the telephone, individuals are able to hear the true voice of another person from distance. As a result, the gap between people is minimized.

Guglielmo Marconi and Nikola Tesla invented wireless signals using electric waves in the early twentieth century. Then people can transmit sound and images using waves. This evolved in the invention of television. And it was via this discovery that it became possible to transmit a message to millions of people simultaneously.

Steam engine

Prior to the introduction of the steam engine, the majority of manufacturing items were created by hand. Apart from that, the primary source of energy was water-powered or animal-pulling machinery. Thomas Newcomen invented the first steam-powered water pump engine in 1812. Then, in 179, James Watt made several modifications to Newcomen's engine. He connected the engine to a steam generator. As a result, the engine's performance improves and the engine becomes more useful. His engine was capable of generating rotational power.

James Watt's design of this engine paved the way for the development of engine-driven automobiles. That was followed by the engine-driven train. As a result, people were able to travel fast between locations. Along with its employment in trains and automobiles, steam engines began to be used in a variety of factories. Factory output increased. Human civilization developed at a breakneck pace. This steam engine is still in service in the present era. Numerous power stations continue to generate electricity with steam-powered turbines.

Electric lamp

While Thomas Alva Edison is often regarded as the inventor of the electric lamp, by the 1880's, over a dozen people have been working on its development. Edison made numerous modifications to this electric lamp. In Britain, a man named Joseph Swann was working on the same idea at the time. Edison and Swann later founded the Ediswane electric lamp company.

A filament powers an electric bulb. As a result, the filament emits light and heat. The filament is composed of a high-resistance substance and is housed in an airless bulb to prevent premature failure.

The introduction of the electric lamp enabled the easy arrangement of illumination outside the home and in the business. Previously, other sources of light such as gas lamps were available, but they could not be used as simply as electric lamps. Electric light has illuminated a large portion of the globe.

In my next post, I will tell about some more information about these types of discoveries that have changed the world. Till then, keep following and supporting me.
