Good day great people of the steemit zero-to-infinity community. We all agree that our health is most important to us . I would not have created this post if i was seriously sick and fighting for my life.normally do not value our health when we have it ,is only the sick person that value the importance of health.If you are unfortunate to fall sick you will need medicines to help you in the fight against the diseases. So today i write about the greatest scientific discovery in the medical space that has saved the lives of millions of people since its discovery.

The penicillin is one of the most important drug ever discovered in the history of human medicines. It is still one of the first and the most broadly used antibiotics which has its agents made the penicillin mould.In the year 1928 a Scottish bacteriologist by the name Alexander Fleming was the first to make a keen observation that lead to the realisation that
first observed that certain colonies the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus family couldn't grow in areas that were of the culture that has been contaminated accidentally by the green of the penicillium substances or natatum .

This shocking revelation made him isolate the mold in a special place to be able to change it into a fluid medium and to his amazement he realised that it produced substances which was able to kill a dozen of the common bacteria that has been infecting and killing humans for centuries A few years down the line a a pathologist who an Australian and another biochemist named Enst Boris chain
also made changes to Alexander Fleming's discovery by purifying the penicillin and making into an injectable for therapeutic purposes

History has it that most of the soldiers in world war ii died more from infections than from the injuries they obtained in the war itself .But the since the discovery of the saviour which we know it to be called penicillin has been able to reduce the death rate of soldiers who died from bacterial pneumonia from 18% to 1% which is drastic decrease .

The penicillin is always to given patients who has been infected by bacteria.The bacteria which is an antibiotic attacks and kills bacterias and prevent them from either growing or multiplying .The drug does this by fighting the enzymes that are makes the building of bacteria cell wall possible. The penicillin drug also prevent the bacteria from synthezing peptidoglycan which is a molecule which gives the cell strength to survive in the human body ,so the drug directly attack the cell and making it thereby making the individual recover from the bacteria infection.

Conclusion
The penicillin was known as the miracle drug that saved the lives of millions of people which might have otherwise died from bacteria infection such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, syphilis,meningitis and many other infections. I don't know what the world would have been without the accidental penicillin by Alexander Fleming
