What is Photosynthesis? How does it work?

in Zero to Infinity3 years ago

Plants and some microorganisms use photosynthesis, which is a multi-step metabolic process. It produces glucose by capturing carbon dioxide and solar energy. Chemical energy is stored in the form of carbs by glucose. Photosynthesis' entire biochemical formula is 6 CO 2 + 6 H 2 O + light energy C. 6 H 12 O 6 + 6 O 2 = 6 H 12 O 6 + 6 O 2 Photosynthesis delivers oxygen into the atmosphere, and it is mostly responsible for keeping the oxygen level in the atmosphere constant.

Sunlight energy is absorbed by plants and converted into substance. Is the earth's mass going to rise over time?

E=mc2, where m is the mass of the object, c is the speed of light, and the square is a huge value, shows that the mass of an item may be transformed into energy, and the conversion coefficient is extremely great. That is why the atomic bomb's hydrogen bomb can produce such incredible amounts of energy.

Because an object's mass can be transformed to energy, the total energy and total mass of the thing should have a one-to-one relationship. As a result, the sun's energy is absorbed by the earth, which causes the earth's mass to rise.

The mass-energy equation, on the other hand, does not imply this.

Because light simply provides the energy source for reaction and does not give any reactive compounds, photosynthesis will have no effect on the earth's overall mass.

Experiments have demonstrated that a water molecule can decompose when exposed to the energy of 12 photons. This is referred to as a photo response. Plants do not require the oxygen atoms that remain after breakdown. The hydrogen atoms created are delivered directly into the chloroplast matrix, where they take part in the dark process. And carbon dioxide in the chloroplast matrix causes the Calvin cycle, which results in the production of sugar.

The photosynthesis chemical reaction equation is as follows:

C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6O2 + 6H2O + 12H2O + 6CO2 -light

Plants fix all of their carbon dioxide from the air, and they release all of their oxygen from the moisture collected by their roots. The overall mass will not change since the chemical reaction equation follows the rule of conservation of mass.

Photosynthesis plays a direct role in the carbon, oxygen, and water cycles on Earth, as well as an indirect role in the nitrogen and phosphorus cycles.

These cycles are known as the Bio-geochemical Cycle (Bio-geochemical Cycle), and they all obey the conservation of mass principle.

In truth, photosynthesis is the process by which plants convert inorganic stuff into organic matter and release oxygen using light energy. Because this process creates new substances while also consuming reactants of the same mass, there is no mass gain and the earth does not become heavier.
