With technology in recent times now, one can move about with the data of a whole organization under his thumb. Processes have been automated to the extent that an organization can be able to assist you in your petty problem even during non-working hours of that company or organization.
What do we mean by Information Technology??
When we say information technology, it basically refers to the usage of computers to simply create, process, store, and retrieve information and exchange any and all types of data and information. People started storing, retrieving, creating, and sharing data and information since the early age when the first type of technology where discovered. The sharing and manipulation of data and information were not easy and malleable as it is today.
Data and information used to be shared among people and organizations through tubes installed all over the organization and between them. One had to only write of type the information wished to be sent, put it in the cylindrical tin, and place it into the tube to be sucked to the other end of the receipt. Imagine from then to now and today’s technology where is digitalized and everything came to be accessed online, processed online, communicate online and perform other services online. With current technology, it is tasked to secure, protect and safeguard data and information being transferred. Information technology most especially has impacted sectors and functional processes of businesses and organizations.

For instance, the use of machines and other automated equipment’s in the manufacturing process of a company, these machines do the work in much larger quantities than manpower can handle and the also does that in less time with all the automated process from the beginning to the end of the manufacturing of the product is automated and does it without getting exhausted.

For instance, let's take the covid-19 pandemic time were schools were closed but classes were continued at the comfort of our homes and learned through online video conferencing and other online materials.

The health system is the most important and when the introduction of information technology is involved in the health care system it is really going to help people. For example, imagine a patient comes into a hospital and the situation demands blood infusion but that hospital does not have that blood type so they send the patient to another hospital without knowing for sure whether that hospital also has that specific blood type. So with information technology, a system can be created connecting all the hospitals together to share information among each other. So in this situation, instead of sending the patient to a different hospital without knowing whether that hospital too has that blood type, you could check on the system to see the closest hospital that has that blood type and now send the patient to that hospital.
Importance of Information technology.
1. Information technology has seen the growth of the business through the digitalization of processes to maximize profit like e-commerce. Businesses make their products online for people to be able to access and purchase through e-commerce platforms.
2. Information technology has once again seen the efficient and timely delivery of products. It has also minimized the cost of service by automating some processes like reduced staff in manufacturing and automating some processes in the manufacturing sector to save cost.
3. Also, information technology has provided people or students with easy access to information and materials to learn. It also helps people explore a new area of study to broaden their knowledge and more.
Information technology is one discovery and invention that is and will now always be impactful to businesses and organizations in today's world.
