Steem Bangladesh Contest : I Love Gardening || 30% beneficiaries in the @hive-138339

Assalamu alaikum steemian. My name is Abdulganiyu Ahmed from Nigeria. This is my first post in steem Bangladesh community and I am happy to be here. Based on the recent contest, I will like to talk about gardening. I have numerous flowers and fruit trees around my house and I will like to use this medium briefly introduce them and how I take care of them.

Gardening can be define as the act of cultivating the soil in a garden, it simple means taking care of a garden. Gardening has many advantages such as provision of nutritious vegetable and fruit and it also provide us with beautiful flowers which can be use for decoration. Plating of tress also help to reduce global warming and climate change.

Now let me briefly introduce you to the flowers grown in my home.

Pinwheel Flower: This is also called crape jasmine, it an evergreen shrub which origin is from South Asia and china. It grows very rapid where the necessary requirement are available (water, sunlight and space) than it produce its attractive flowers.

Dwarf Red Ixora: This is a sun loving shrub and it grows not so tall as the name implies. The flowers blossom year round and also the flower clusters usually last for about 6-8 weeks.

Purple False Eranthemum: It is a hairless shrub usually from Polynesia. It grows to about 7 feet in height. It has rose-purple flowers. It original name is pseuderanthemum and it has around 60 species of herbs and shrubs.

Groton Gold Dust (Thin Leave): This is a tropical evergreen plant. It can also be called garden croton. It can be an indoor or an outdoor plant and it a member of the Euphorbiaceae family.

Duranta Errecta Plant: This is a species of flowing shrub. It belong to the verbena family which origin are from South America and Caribbean. It is usually grown as an ornamental plant in most gardens around the world.

Hamelia Patens: This is also known as Firebush or redhead. It is a large perennial shrub. It origin is from American subtropics and tropics. It has a wide range in North and South American.

How I care for my flowers and tress

• Regular watering: Water is one of the essential things flowers and tree need to grow. So I supply water to my trees and flowers every morning in the dry season.

• Regular trimming: This means slightly reducing some excess part of a plant. It is done mostly to the flowers in order to maintain their shape and make them look attractive.

• Fertilizer application and Mulching: This means to cover the top soil after the application of appropriate fertilizer.
