Renewable Resources

Resources that are never diminished or are naturally produced again after insufficiency are called renewable resources. Examples of Renewable resources- solar radiation, tidal energy, biogas, heat, water, wind, forest resources, grasslands, wildlife, etc.

Solar power is a type of renewable energy that appears from the sun to the earth. Solar energy can be utilized by converting it into thermal energy or electrical energy. Solar energy is a wealthy source of renewable resources. The amount of solar energy available per square meter of the earth is equal to 1.36 kW of electricity. The amount of energy needed in a year in the entire United States is equivalent to 32 minutes of fallen solar energy.

  • Solar thermal power generation

The solar rays are reflected in the centre of the heat exchanger by a mirror or any other reflector and with the help of centralized solar energy the water is evaporated in the heat exchanger and steam is generated. The heat exchanger is heated by conducting gas through a tube. Electricity is generated by generating turbines by generating steam or heated gas.

Tidal Energy Management

Power can be produced with the help of generators by turning high-powered turbines on low tides in the sea or river during tides. In addition, with the help of advanced technology in power generation, huge tidal energy sources can be used.

High-powered turbines and parts of generators are placed in bulbs with water in tidal areas of the sea or river. The turbine is rotated by water flow. Changing the speed of water flow changes the direction of rotation of the turbine. In this strategy, electricity is generated by turning the generator into a turbine.

Combustible gas produced from kitchen organic waste, agricultural waste, animal waste etc. is called Bio-gas. This gas is produced through special biochemical technology. Biogas is used as cooking fuel, lighting and as a source of electricity generation. The steps of biogas production are as follows- The organic waste materials are converted to relatively simple sugars by fermentation, it needs an anaerobic environment to perform this procedure. The simple sugars thus obtained are converted into organic acids by anaerobic bacteria. Then, methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) gas are generated with the support of bacteria from organic acids. Biogas contains 60-70% methane and 30-40% CO2 gas.

It is possible to generate electricity from the thermal inhomogeneity of seawater. A scientist used this technology on the beach in the early 1900s. In this strategy, the surface water of the ocean is extremely high, ranging from 21°C – 28°C. Because water is an underprivileged conductor of heat, seafloor temperatures are very low, ranging from 1–3°C. This disparity in seawater heat is exploited for evaporation with the help of a heat exchanger. The flow of hot steam pushes turbines and generators to produce electricity.

The structural and chemical properties of water need to be analyzed to see whether it is safe or not. Different techniques have to be formulated for water purification. The necessary water supply system should be smooth.


Underground water management

Although surface water pollution can be controlled, it is very difficult to control groundwater pollution. There are some methods to control groundwater pollution. Proper synthesis is the best way to control pollution. There are some limited methods of controlling groundwater pollution. Pumps are used to exhilarate surface water from contaminated aquifers and purify it. This purified water is sent back to the aquifer. Water purification can be done with the help of certain bacteria living in soil and groundwater.

Proper maintenance of water Or management is the key to generate electricity from the flow of water. A large amount of water is stored in the reservoir by creating dams in the course of the river. This water is poured over the turbine and the turbine starts to rotate. As a result, the generator connected to the turbine also starts rotating and electricity is generated. Reservoir→Canal→Intake→Forebay→Sewage→Penstoke→Turbine→Generator→Electricity.
